Power Rankings: New Orleans Saints have one of least intriguing camps in NFL

Training camps are officially underway, with the Bills and Giants already going through two-a-day practices, and the rest of the league set to start at various times this week. As a result, excitement about the upcoming NFL season is at a fever pitch; 32 different fan bases believe their team can have a special year. But in reality, not all teams are created equal. And as a result...

Camp Preview: New Orleans Saints have athletic enigma at linebacker

Thanks to the NBA Finals/Free Agency and the World Cup the summer sporting doldrums have seemed to fly by, and we’re about two days away from Training Camps kicking off across the NFL. To catch you up to speed on all things Saints, each day we’ll preview a different position and give you an idea of what to keep an eye on while you watch reports coming out of The Greenbrier in...

New Orleans Saints: Three most intriguing positional battles

The New Orleans Saints will be headed to Greenbrier, West Virginia to start training camp on July 24th. With all the offseason issues finally being resolved, it is time for players to get down to business and get ready for the upcoming season. For the established players, this will be a period to get back into shape, but for others this will be a time to compete for depth chart...

New Orleans Saints: Why to watch Khiry Robinson at training camp

With the New Orleans Saints reporting to training camp on July 24th, there are quite a few intriguing players and positional battles to watch. Rookies like Brandin Cooks and Stanley Jean-Baptiste have the fans excited to see what they can do. My player to watch for 2014 training camp is Khiry Robinson. Robinson was virtually unknown this time last year as an undrafted free agent...

Saints look to return to championship status as they land at No. 6 in PFT's power rankings

The New Orleans Saints have retooled their defense, added more weapons on offense, and a hunger to get back to championship caliber football. That means winning on the road, the Saints were miserable away from home in 2013 with a 3-5 record, that just doesn't get it done when you have to travel in the playoffs. The team signed tight end Jimmy Graham, getting their biggest...

Fantasy Preview: New Orleans Saints’ Drew Brees rated as top-2 QB option

With training camps getting underway this week, the NFL season is right around the corner. And that can only mean one thing: Fantasy football drafts are about to start happening. In order to get a jump on the competition, it’s never to early to start putting together a draft board. To help the cause, cover32 will be ranking each position, with updates from now until the start of...

Twitter Tuesday: New Orleans Saints LB Junior Galette looks like Rick Ross

If you’re on Twitter and don’t follow Junior Galette, well you’re just plain missing out. The @JuniorG93 feed is phenomenal, and Galette (acting as his alter-ego ‘SACKMAN’) tends to be as passionate and full-of-life on the internet as he is on the football field. Recently, however, he took an in-car selfie that had him looking like an … undesirable … rap star. Whose...

Jairus Byrd’s return flight to the field is on schedule

There are plenty of reasons to be stoked about the 2014 NFL season for New Orleans Saints fans, and the biggest one hasn’t even seen the field yet. In May the Saints signed free agent Jairus Byrd to a massive long-term contract which made him the highest paid safety in the NFL. Earl Thomas of the Seahawks later signed a larger deal which pays him more annually, but the total value...

Training Camp watch list: New Orleans Saints linebacker Ramon Humber

Ramon Humber (53) goes airborne to force an incomplete pass from Indianapolis Colts quarterback Dan Orlovsky (6) during their 2011 contest.  Photo credit:  Michael DeMocker, NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune. An undrafted free agent signed by the Colts in 2009, Humber was one of the Saints’ best-kept secrets until the beginning of the 2014 NFL free agency period when both the Minnesota...

Akiem Hicks: The Next Big Thing in New Orleans

When I call Akiem Hicks the “next big thing” for the New Orleans Saints, I’m not referring to his stature since that would be stating the obvious. At 6’05” and about 320 points, Hicks stands out as one of the biggest guys on the field, but we all know that big men don’t always produce. Hicks, though, showed serious promise in his 2012 rookie campaign and built on that...

Saints sign NT Tyrone Ezell and LB Marcus Thompson

The Saints made a couple of roster moves to their 90 man team yesterday as they prepare for camp, which starts tomorrow. The new additions are nose tackle Tyrone Ezell and linebacker Marcus Thompson, and they released NT Moses McCray and LB Cheta Ozougwu. All four players are undrafted rookie free agents, so the odds for the two newest guys to make the squad are long. The Saints...

Which position can the Saints least afford an injury besides quarterback?

Maybe it’s the cynic in me but every time training camp starts I immediately worry about the starters that won’t make it through and healthy coming into week 1 of the regular season. Kenyon Coleman, Will Smith, Victor Butler and Joseph Morgan were a few that had things end for them in 2013 before they ever got started and unfortunately the team had big plans for each of those...

Quotable Monday: New Orleans Saints hire ‘Saintsational’ cheerleader

NFL cheerleaders are often ogled and drooled over like a sizzling piece of prime rib on the grill. That is, in it’s purest form, a bad thing. However, that fact is not the point of this piece. Fit, beautiful, and nimble, the core demographic for most NFL cheerleaders is likely 18-25 – and for good reason. Similarly to a NFL player, cheerleaders perform a strenuous workout for...

Saints Place NT John Jenkins & DE Cheta Ozougwu On PUP List

The New Orleans Saints placed NT John Jenkins and DE Cheta Ozougwu on the physically unable to perform list on Monday. Jenkins, 25, missed all of OTAs after he underwent surgery on his pectorals this offseason. The expectation is for the Saints to have Jenkins back at practice at some point during training camp. Ozougwu, 25, joined the Saints after being waived by the Bears back in May.

Backup backs set to make an impact: Khiry Robinson and Jonathan Stewart vie for FSLR's ultimate sleeper title

Zach Greubel starts it off with Khiry Robinson: Remember when Bill Parcells told Sean Payton that he had the next Curtis Martin on his hands? Parcells was referring to second-year running back Khiry Robinson, a 6-foot, 220-pound physical specimen from West Texas A&M. Robinson saw minimal opportunities during the 2013 regular season with Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram and Darren...
