Bleacher Report:
Well, it's finally official, Jim Schwartz has named Matthew Stafford as the starting quarterback for your Detroit Lions. Daunte Culpepper would've been the safe choice but I'm so sick and tired of safe, I want to gamble. We need to witness excitement and exhilaration, not sour faces and hopefulness that the diehards are prone to do.
Stop living in the past, Joey Harrington and Charles Rogers aren't here anymore. I know it's difficult to forget about last year's dismal 0-16 record and Matt Millen's awful personnel decisions he made in his seven-year tenure but keep you heads up. There's actually talent on this roster. Calvin Johnson is one of the best receiver in the NFL, Kevin Smith could be the running back we've all been clamoring for, and Matthew Stafford, who is mature way beyond his years and is relentless in his craft.
I had to get that off my chest.
