The reasons for not trading Darrelle Revis are obvious. When healthy, this guy is not only the Jets’ best player, but probably the best defensive back in the entire NFL and maybe even the best overall defensive player in the NFL. Including this year, when he played just 1 ½ games thanks to injury, Revis has allowed 153 completions on 371 attempts (41.2%) for 1946 yards (5.2 YPA), 8 touchdowns, 18 interceptions, while deflecting 62 passes, and committing 13 penalties over the past 5 seasons. That’s a QB rating allowed of 45.3. No one else even comes close to that and he does it despite shadowing the opponent’s #1 wide receiver on every snap, something that most #1 cornerbacks don’t do anymore. He’s also just 28 in July and should have at least 3 more years playing at this level left in him. He’s coming off a torn ACL and the Jets would clearly be selling him low by trading him now, which is not normally an advisable move. I say “normally” because there are reasons why moving him no...

Revis seeking historic megadeal?

The New York Jets reportedly are open to trading CB Darrelle Revis, who apparently is seeking a contract that would be of historic proportions.

Should the Patriots go after Darrelle Revis?

Could the Patriots make a move for Darrelle Revis? After reports that the New York Jets are open to trading super-stud cornerback Darrelle Revis surfaced Wednesday night, I began to think, “Is it fathomable to think Darrelle Revis could end up in a Patriots uniform come September?” Of course, it would be tough to see the Jets trade their best player to their hated in-division...

New York Jets: The Revis Debate

Outside of NFL Draft Prospects and potential free agent additions, the hottest debate topic circulating the New York Jets at the current time is undoubtedly the recent news that the Jets will look into trading Cornerback Darrelle Revis. When discussing a team’s best player, one who is arguably the best defensive player in the entire league, debates are destined to gain intensity...

Report: Jets want a 1st and 2nd round pick in return for Revis

According to Mike Freeman of CBS Sports, the New York Jets are looking to get a first and second round pick in return for cornerback Darrelle Revis.  I would that is a very fair asking price if he didn’t tear his ACL this season.  But the fact that he has to come back from a serious knee injury, teams won’t be willing to give up that much to acquire Revis. We already know there...

Jets GM Calls Darrelle Revis To Do Damage Control

Give new Jets general Manager John Idzik credit, he can smell trouble.  After swimming through waves of bad publicity once again with news that the team is exploring trade scenarios for star cornerback Darrelle Revis, Idzik reached out to his injured star to do damage control. According to ESPN New York, Idzik said Revis “reacted well to the call.” “I reached out to Darrelle...

Jets GM calls Revis to clear air

A few hours after Darrelle Revis said he was ''speechless'' about rampant trade talk, new Jets general manager John Idzik reached out to the star cornerback Thursday to ask to ''give us a chance'' to evaluate the entire roster. Idzik told NBC's Pro Football Talk on Friday that Revis ''reacted well'' to the phone call, which came...

Revis Is Worth More Than A First Round Pick

SI’s Peter King reports today that the Jets asking price for Darrelle Revis will be a first round pick, but it’s not enough to warrant getting rid of the game’s best cover corner. As long as the Revis legal team can somehow avoid a third contractual confrontation with Woody Johnson, we see no reason why new GM John Idzik should send Revis packing for the potential of some unknown...

Jets GM reaches out to Revis about trade rumors

New York Jets general manager John Idzik told NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk said he called cornerback Darrelle Revis after Revis earlier said he was "speechless" about rumors he would be traded. Idzik said he asked Revis to "give us a chance" to evaluate the entire roster. The new GM said Revis "reacted well" during their phone conversation....

To even attempt to fly, the Jets need to remove ‘Revis Island’ from the swamps in Jersey and deal Darrelle Revis

Much to the chagrin of embattled head coach Rex Ryan, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson and recently hired general manager John Idzik will entertain offers to deal elite cornerback Darrelle Revis this offseason. The 27-year-old Revis, who the Jets selected out of the University of Pittsburgh with the 14th overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, was indefinitely shelved after suffering...

Not often does one of the best players in football become available, but that’s exactly what appears to be happening in New York. Darrelle Revis is rumored to be on the move, or at least on the trade block, and there will be plenty of teams lining up at the Jets’ door for a crack at the best cornerback in football. Revis played just two games in 2012, but the Jets still managed...

The Broncos A Serious Suitor For Jets CB Derrelle Revis?

Peter King of Sports Illustrated has a “feeling” that Broncos vice president of football operations John Elway could convince owner Pat Bowlen that DB Darrelle Revis is “the missing piece to a championship team.“ King also mentions that the Kansas City Chiefs could be in play for the corner as well since the team has upwards of $17 million of cap space to work with right...

Report: Mike Tannenbaum asked Darrelle Revis who the Jets could sign to replace him

According to Andrew Kramer via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network,  three days after undergoing surgery to repair his ACL, former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum asked cornerback Darrelle Revis who they could sign to replace him. Wow. @andrea_kramer said on TA that Tannenbaum asked Revis 3 days after surgery, “Do you have any ideas who we can sign to replace you?...

Seahawks Richard Sherman says “numbers don’t lie, I’m better than Darrell Revis”

Seattle Seahawks corner Richard Sherman is a talker. He believes he’s stepping into rare air and he’s not afraid to troll you with his greatness. His latest stunt, he dropped a side by side graphic of his numbers and Jets corner, Darrelle Revis’ too. The caption, “Men lie, Women lie, numbers don’t.” True but, numbers can be manipulated. Keep in mind Revis only played...
