Found June 06, 2012 on Waiting For Next Year:
[Mohamed Massaquoi] is looking better and I expect a lot from him. He expects a lot from himself, I’m sure when you go ask him, he’ll tell you that. I see a much healthier Massaquoi. Mo looks good, he’s making plays. I think he’s getting comfortable with all of the quarterbacks and he’s having a good camp. I think we remember seeing him coming into camp last year injured and he had to fight through getting healthy before he could show us what he can really do. Now he is beyond that, knows a lot more about what we’re doing and it’s showing up.
- Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur, Wednesday, following the team’s mandatory workout. Massaquoi is coming into his fourth season with the team, having caught no more than 36 passes in a season. The former second-round selection is thought to be in a make-or-break year as the team has drafted multiple receivers in attempt to bolster the position. Healthy Massaquoi eager to help Browns

Mohamed Massaquoi is healthy and ready to catch passes for the Cleveland Browns. That's good news for the Browns, because the wide receiver was somewhat limited the past two seasons after suffering concussions. Massaquoi also missed most of training camp last summer with a foot injury and says at mini-camp Wednesday his main concern this year is staying healthy. That would...

Shurmur wants to name QB sooner rather than later

When Pat Shurmur spoke to the media today, he didn’t name a starting quarterback, but he spoke about the desire to name a starter “sooner rather than later.” Will Burge from ESPNCleveland points out on his twitter that Shurmur said it not once but three separate times. That’s good news for those fans that want to do everything possible to avoid quarterback controversy. Still...

Shurmur optimistic about Browns receivers

BEREA Despite the perception the Browns still need help at wide receiver, Pat Shurmur still is optimistic about the players currently on the roster. I think we have some guys, number one that are good players and I think theyve had a chance to play a year in the system and to improve their game, Shurmur said. Weve added some young players who have a chance to develop into good players...

Shurmur hints Weeden may be Cleveland's starting QB

There may not be much of a quarterback controversy in Cleveland. Head coach Pat Shurmur said Wednesday that he would like to name a starter "sooner than later," and also indicated that starter could very well be rookie Brandon Weeden."I think once we've made the decision, that's the deal," Shurmur said. "If you know that he's going to be your...

Shurmur: Browns Moving Forward with Brandon Weeden Getting “Most” of the Reps

[Brandon Weeden is] getting more of the reps than anybody at this point, number one. Number two, as I’ve mentioned all along, we need to see him function in our offense. I think that’s in line with what Tom (Heckert) was saying. We drafted him for a reason, which is in line with what Tom was saying. In my opinion, we’re moving forward with that. At this point in the year,...

Pat Shurmur and the Burden of Proof

Of all the people in Berea with something to prove to the totality of Browns fans, Pat Shurmur might very well top the list. Even with all the built in excuses and whether or not you care to take them into account, it is undeniable that Pat Shurmur hasn’t proven much yet. He appears to have the respect of his players. He seems to have the backing of his bosses Mike Holmgren and...

Browns begin mini-camp; all players in attendance

Phil Dawson was in camp today after skipping the voluntary portion of OTA’s. Pat Shurmur indicated that everyone has indeed reported for the mandatory mini-camp, and that there are plenty of reps to go around- “Shurmur feels there are enough reps during practice as well as the preseason for everyone regardless of position. He added that he is anticipating being able to distribute...

Browns state the obvious, Trent Richardson will start

Getty Images On Thursday, Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur was asked if rookie running back Trent Richardson is already considered the starter. Shurmur responded by saying, “I think that’s probably fair to say.” I think we would all be shocked if the Browns didn’t make Richardson their starting running back right away.  He just might be the best all around back to...

Browns might name Brandon Weeden their starter when camp starts

Getty Images Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur has made it clear that he would like to name a starting quarterback ”sooner rather than later.” There’s a good chance Shurmur might name rookie Brandon Weeden the starter in time for training camp, since that’s what the Rams did when he was the offensive coordinator in St. Louis when Sam Bradford was a rookie. “I remember...

Weeden – “sooner rather than later”

It appears that Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden will be named starter pretty soon if you listen to coach Pat Shurmur. Shurmur indicated he’d like to select his starters “sooner rather than later” and that his QB battle is shaping up much like his last one. Browns coach Pat Shurmur hinted today that he could name rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden his starter...
