DALLAS – Emmitt Smith used Twitter to make his first public comment on rookie DeMarco Murray shattering his single-game franchise rushing record. Murray gained 253 yards in Sunday’s 34-7 win over the winless Rams to eclipse the mark of 237 the NFL’s rushing king set on the road against the Eagles in 1993. “In order to be the best, you must be consistent for a long time,” Smith tweeted Monday. “Hopefully this is the start of things to come.” Smith is right. Murray is off to a tremendous start, but other Cowboys running backs had big games early in their careers only to fizzle. Let’s not forget that Julius Jones once rushed for 198 yards for Dallas. On Sunday, Smith tweeted: “congrats to @DeMarcoMurray AWESOME job …we needed this.”
