Houston Texans preseason week 2 preview

Back again with my Houston Texans week 2 preview. The Texans take on the San Fransisco 49ers on Saturday night in their week 2 preseason matchup. Head Coach Gary Kubiak said “it will be a good test for us.” And he’s right. After trouncing a Panthers squad with high hopes for the upcoming season, a team they lost to last season while new Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips...

Texans Extend Duane Brown

At the beginning of the week, word came out of Reliant that the Houston Texans were in talks to resign their starting left tackle, Duane Brown. The rumors became truth today when Brown and the Texans agreed on a new deal.     Duane Brown signed 6-year $53.4 million extension. $22.08 guananteed. $8.9 million average. — John McClain (@McClain_on_NFL) August 16, 2012   The new...

Is Ben Tate a concern for Arian Foster owners? Are fumbles? What is Tate’s value?

Still healthy after the first preseason game, Arian Foster is atop many if not all draft boards regardless of format. The Rodgers/Brady #1 folk are beginning to make noise and it’s getting louder, but with each passing week the upper tier of the healthy RB's is getting thinner and the guys with question marks loom over the rest of the first round.Last year going into Fantasy...

HOUSTON (AP) -- A person with direct knowledge of the deal says the Houston Texans have agreed to a new contract with left tackle Duane Brown. The person spoke on condition of anonymity Thursday because the deal had not been announced. Houston Texans: Super Bowl Contenders

Coming off of the franchise’s first playoff berth since the team joined the NFL in 2002, the Houston Texans have several reasons to believe that last year’s success was the start of something special. The naysayers said they would never reach the postseason, the critics insisted last season was over once Matt Schaub went down in Week 10, and the analysts had lost hope due to...

Breaking Down the Duane Brown Extension With the Texans

One of the things that the Texans front office has been leaking to the press for close to a year now was that they wanted to come to an agreement on a extension with franchise left tackle Duane Brown before he entered the final season of his current deal. As it turns out, they were telling the truth. In a season that saw Brown get a pro bowl snub after allowing only 2 sacks for...

What should we expect out of the Texans in 2012?

The Houston Texans have operated as a franchise since the beginning of the 2001 NFL season.  Until last year, the organization and their fans had yet to experience a post-season appearance, let alone a playoff win.  That all changed when the Texans beat the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Wild Card game.  Houston went ballistic, [...]

Houston Texans extend OT Duane Brown

After years of being an average left tackle, 2008 1st round pick Duane Brown finally showed why the Texans used that 1st round pick on him last year, making all 18 of the Texans’ starts en route to an eventual loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Divisional round. Brown, impressively, was the only offensive tackle in the league to make more than 6 starts and not allow a single...

Houston Texans 2012 Season Preview

2011 in a Nutshell: 10-6 AFC South Champions; Lost Divisional Playoff Last year was both a great success for the Texans and a massive disappointment, they won double digit games for the first time in franchise history, won their first division title, played in, hosted and won their first ever playoff game in franchise history. You would think that would have made any fan ecstatic...

KSK 2012 NFL Prekkake: Houston Texans

Last year’s Texans made their first playoff appearance in franchise history and even recorded a postseason victory, despite being forced to start T.J. Yates at quarterback at the end of the season. Could be worse, given the alternative was Jake Delhomme and Jeff Garcia. Being hamstrung at quarterback was too much to overcome despite a valiant effort in a divisional round loss...
