No. 1 Jared Cook Continues To Be A BeastCook’s 141-yard, 2 touchdown day versus the Arizona Cardinals was just the beginning to what this guy is going to accomplish this season. Throughout the game Cook showed the he was Sam Bradford’s favorite target and that should continue on Sunday. The Falcons surrendered 357 receiving yards last Sunday to the New Orleans Saints and 45 of those yards were to TE Jimmy Graham. Graham also found the end zone. And while 45 yards would seem to be an off day for Graham, the box score indicates that it may have been because Drew Brees spread the ball around to seven different receivers. Bradford doesn’t have that luxury, as his options are somewhat limited, which is a good thing for Cook. Bradford will continue to look for Cook often and he will again find the end zone at least twice on Sunday. No. 2 Steven Jackson Finds Pay Dirt Against His Old TeamSteven Jackson’s opening game with the Falcons wasn’t a bad one, but it could have been better. Atlanta Falcons news: Falcons ready to wrestle with the Rams

The Atlanta Falcons have a great opportunity to make everyone forget about their Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints this Sunday, when the team has their home opener against the St. Louis Rams. The Falcons, who lost to New Orleans 23-17, will be taking on a Jeff Fisher-led St. Louis Rams squad that edged out the Arizona Cardinals 27-24 to begin the season 1-0. Offensively, the...

Falcons' Jackson ready to roll against ex-Rams 'mates

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. Steven Jackson revealed an introspective and even sensitive side on Wednesday, as he talked about Sunday's looming matchup with the Rams, his first and only NFL team from 2004-12. That might, at first, seem surprising for a figure of Jackson's chiseled physical stature (6-foot-2, 240). But the three-time Pro Bowler also possesses an artistic side, which...

Motivation won't be an issue for Steven Jackson when Rams visit Atlanta

ST. LOUIS -- Don't let all the happy talk fool you. As cordially and professionally as Steven Jackson and his old team are talking about each other this week, you can be sure there's some resentment buried beneath all the platitudes. How could there not be on Jackson's side? He gave the Rams nine strong years and became the franchise's all-time leading rusher...

St. Louis Rams: 5 things to watch versus Atlanta

After a late fourth quarter come back win in Week 1, the St. Louis Rams will be looking to extend their record to 2-0 on the season as they travel to see old friend Steven Jackson and the Atlanta Falcons. It will be an emotional game for both sides as the Rams hook-up with their old friend and the franchise’s all-time leading rusher. But there is more to this game then just that...

Were the Falcons Too Predictable on First Down in Week One?

Earlier this week we looked at the Falcons and how they fared on third down in the season opening loss to the Saints. Spoiler Alert: it wasn't pretty. Another thing that I noticed as the game unfolded was that the Falcons were quite unbalanced on first down plays. Let's break it down into quarters and see how the Falcons were at mixing it up on the all important...

Atlanta Falcons/St Louis Rams Preview

Week 2 is here and the Atlanta Falcons are already looking at a must win situation. The odds of a team making the playoffs after a 0-2 start are 13%. Yikes! The Falcons host the Rams this week, and thankfully Matty Ice refuses to lose at home (in the regular season…) so I fully expect Atlanta to rebound this weekend.   The Falcons will be reluctant to start Roddy...

Down the Seam: Top 5 Fantasy TE’s for Week 2

Week 1 brought some surprises to the tight end radar, but Down and Distance hit money on 4 of the 5 from opening week: the Rams’ Jared Cook, 49ers’ Vernon Davis, Cowboys’ Jason Witten, and Saints’ Jimmy Graham all finding the end zone. Graham was the only one of the four who did not break 70 yards receiving. Not bad for a week in tight end prognostication! Without further...

While We’re Waiting… Fantasy football in NFL stadiums?

While We’re Waiting is a space on the WaitingForNextYear website where we share links every day. We’ve been doing it for about four years or so. Denny Mayo used to be much more amusing with his intros, if you recall. You know the drill: Email us with suggestions at tips@waitingfornextyear.com. Atlanta, GA- The Atlanta Falcons lost the season opener to the Saints 23-17 at the Superdome in New Orleans.
