Terrell Brown (Credit: slumz.boxden.com) Over the last few years, we’ve seen quite a few huge offensive linemen come into the NFL. Offensive tackle Mike Williams, a fourth overall pick of the Bills who also played for Washington, weighed in at 410 in the 2009 season after signing with the Redskins. Another former Buffalo Bill, Michael Jasper, who ended up being switched to defensive tackle from offensive tackle, weighed in at 448 pounds after his senior year at Bethel (TN) University. Time to add another name to that list of 400-plus linemen: Terrell Brown. The latest undrafted rookie to sign with the St. Louis Rams, Brown was listed at 6-foot-10 and 385 pounds during his time at Ole Miss, but he weighed a little bit more than that when he showed up at Rams camp. The little extra weight gain was enough to join the 400 club, as Rams coach Jeff Fisher told Joe Lyons of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Friday. “Actually, we weighed him in at 403,” Rams coach Jeff Fisher said. “We had him in for a rookie tryout and he had some issues we had to clear up from a physical standpoint. But we put that behind us. We worked him out on both sides of the ball and decided that his best position would be offensive tackle. “He’s a defensive lineman trying to convert to offense, but he got through practice.” According to Deadspin, Terrell Brown never had much playing experience in college, so his physical features must have been the redeeming characteristic that gave him an NFL roster spot this offseason. The 6-foot-10 Brown hasn’t played much at all. He redshirted his first year in juco, and missed his second due to injury. He sat out a year after transferring to Mississippi, and only saw action in 10 games his final two seasons. If the past success, or lack thereof, by Jasper and Williams is any indication, Brown probably won’t have a great impact in the NFL. Heck, he probably won’t make the Rams’ opening day roster. But these guys that have to fight for spots in the league as undrafted free agents put in a lot of work and deserve some credit for that.
