The Pittsburgh Steelers signed free agent tackle Guy Whimper earlier this week and I have since been asked on Twitter about the sacks that he gave up last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars as well as the penalties that he committed. I figured I would knock out both of those questions in one post, so below are the penalty stats for Whimper for the past two seasons as well as animated GIFs of the five sacks allowed he was charged with last season. In total, Whimper played only 392 plays on offense in 2012 and gave up 5 sacks, 6 quarterback hits and 15 hurries during those snaps to go along Read more [...]

After first rehashing...

Grading the Draft: Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers lost a few big names to free agency in the offseason, namely wide receiver Mike Wallace, linebacker James Harrison and running back Rashard Mendenhall. With the rest of their roster mostly intact, their draft strategy this season was to replace the players they lost and get younger in the process. Not surprisingly, the Steelers used their first three draft picks to replace...

Ben Roethlisberger destroys Joe Flacco in a Baltimore newspaper poll

In my eyes, there is no question that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is still the best in the AFC North, and most certainly still better than Joe Flacco of the Baltimore Ravens. I have been called a biased homer for this being a Steelers fan, especially since Flacco won a Super Bowl and signed a gigantic contract extension. However, the Baltimore Sun recently...

Greetings from Pittsburgh...and Gocong gets a look...

Pittsburgh is a beautiful city now. It's not the smoky river town I remember as a kid. The traffic downtown, though, is a congested mess. Maybe that's partly because the Penguins had a playoff game at home last night. But it looks like a case of too many vehicles, not enough roadway. The Steelers fans I talked with at Uncle Joe Pandl's viewing were quite aware of...
