PITTSBURGH - OCTOBER 03: Head Coach Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers looks on during the game against the Baltimore Ravens on October 3, 2010 at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)
The Pittsburgh Steelers not only turned the football over Sunday night in their 40-23 loss to the Chicago Bears, they also turned over their tackles as well due to poor play. "They hadn't played well enough to justify otherwise," head coach Mike Tomlin said during his post game press conference. "We're going to look at viable guys, we're going to turn the stones over in an effort to find a winning formula and we're not going to be bashful about that." Starters Mike Adams and Marcus Gilbert played so poorly at different points in the game that Kelvin Beachum played both spots at different times throughout the contest. "Kelvin Beachum has earned an opportunity to play in the rotation, he did tonight because of it," Tomlin said. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was once again under heavy pressure most of the night and Adams and Gilbert share a lot of the blame for that. Neither are handling twist and stunts well and both have technique problems that won't be fixed overnight. The Steelers travel to London next week to take on the winless Minnesota Vikings and I bet defensive end Jared Allen cant wait for Adams to arrive. Beachum very well might start on the left side, but even he might not be able to handle Allen. The Steelers have second-round draft picks invested in both Adams and Gilbert and right now both look like backups. The draft is still several months away and it is obvious they will need to burn yet another early round pick on a tackle that can play on the left side if they don't acquire one via free agency. I wonder if they have tackles under stones in London. Steelers To Look For Tackles Under Stones is a post from: Steelers Depot
