The 3rd preseason game of 2012 is here and the Steelers are in Buffalo to play the Bills in an important game for not only the starters but the backups as well. Initial roster cuts are due by Monday August 27, and the Steelers must trim their current roster from 90 players to 75. Even though the reserves won’t play until sometime in the 3rd quarter they will need to take advantage of every snap they get this evening. Their very jobs depend on it.
Mike Tomlin talks about the game and the latest injuries. The starters are expected to play at least the first half, and possibly longer depending on what Coach Mike Tomlin sees out of them.
“I want to see them execute,” said Tomlin of the starting offense, who have only played five series so far in the preseason. “That’s always the case, but particularly in this third game, they are going to work at least a half. I expect to see a quality half of football.”

If you’re expecting to see Ben Roethlisberger, Troy Polamalu, Lamarr Woodley and your other favorite Steelers play this weekend then you’ll be a happy camper. However, with many young players fighting it out for starting positions you’ll also get a nice dose of new faces too. You’re typical 3rd preseason game is all the set starters for at least the first half and in the...
According to ESPN David DeCastro has a torn MCL that will cause him to miss at least half of the 2012 season. The status of his ACL is unknown until he undergoes his MRI later today. Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau made it clear this past offseason that his defense must do a better job at forcing turnovers this year, and thus far through three preseason games they have not let him down.
Saturday night in the Steelers 38-7 win over the Buffalo Bills the LeBeau led defense recorded three takeaways in the form of two interceptions and fumble...

A softer side of Troy we didn't know about. Bet you didn't know Troy Polamalu was into the classics, and that he plays the piano...
Anytime you see a score of 38-7 you think, “man, what a blowout!” Let’s remember however this is the preseason and that in the instance of first team vs. first team it was really only 14-7 so keep things in perspective my friends. Obviously, the biggest news is the worst news from last night as first round draft pick David DeCastro left early with what appears to a significant...
The Pittsburgh Steelers showed flashes of brilliance on both sides of the ball in a 38-7 preseason romp over Buffalo on Saturday night, though it came at a significant cost.
Rookie offensive guard David DeCastro had to be taken off the field on a cart with what coach Mike Tomlin called a ''potentially severe'' right knee injury. DeCastro was scheduled to undergo...
The Pittsburgh Steelers may once again be dealing with a banged up offensive line. Last night, rookie right guard David DeCastro tore his MCL while pass blocking on the Steelers' second possession of the game. Adam Schefter reports that the team is hopeful the rookie didn't tear his ACL. If his ACL escaped injury, DeCastro could be back about half way through the season...
Every year I make a list of players I love and absolutely would want on the majority of my fantasy teams. I also make a list of players I hate. Well, hate is a strong word, but I really really don't like those players. These are players I under almost any circumstance will not draft. So unless Maurice Jones-Drew slips to the late second round, I would not pick him. Knowing players...
Pittsburgh Steelers left tackle Max Starks passed the first test Saturday night in the 38-7 preseason win over the Buffalo Bills by making it through the first half with his surgically repaired right knee on the bothersome field turf of Ralph Wilson Stadium. The second test, you ask? Make it through Sunday without his knee swelling.

Pittsburgh Steelers first round draft pick David DeCastro suffered a torn MCL, dislocated knee cap, and a partially torn patellar tendon on Saturday night against Buffalo.
According to a report on profootballtalk.com, the former Stanford star will miss up to 5 months of action, effectively ending his 2012 season.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashad Mendenhall isn’t expected to be ready to hit the field until “sometime in October.”
“It will be sometime in October, Jerry, not before,” wrote Schefter in reply to a question from his weekly mail bag. “Pittsburgh wanted to bring him off the PUP list Friday to begin to get him back into...

Back on May 10th, I addressed the issue of the Pittsburgh Steelers kicking situation, and I proposed that the Steelers should take a chance on kicker Grant Ressel, who was signed as an undrafted free agent from the University of Missouri. Ressel boasted impressive numbers from his collegiate career, and while Shaun Suisham had been serviceable during his time with...
The Pittsburgh Steelers are taking a wait-and see-approach with injured defensive stars James Harrison and Troy Polamalu.
Coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday both players will go through informal workouts early in the week before any decision is made on whether they can return to practice. Harrison hasn't played in either game this season while recovering from minor surgery on his...
