The Pittsburgh Steelers waived 22 players, including veteran running back Jonathan Dwyer on Saturday, cutting their roster down to the league-mandated 53-players. Dwyer, the Steelers first pick in the sixth round of the 2010 draft, played in 21 games during his career with the

Steeler Nation did not take the dismissal of Jonathan Dwyer very well this holiday weekend. Dwyer himself did not take it very well either and in some ways, who could blame him? He returned as the leading rusher from last season and came into camp this summer in the best shape of his life but it wasn’t enough to save him.
I wrote earlier this week that Dwyer’s cutting was more...
When the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Jonathan Dwyer in the sixth round of the 2010 draft, I thought he would end up being a steal. Through his first two seasons with the team however, Dwyer hadn’t shown much other than short flashes while running for 151 total yards. That, coupled with constant reports of Dwyer showing up to camp out of shape, didn’t help the young running back...
We won't know for sure what the Pittsburgh Steelers final 53 man roster will look like for several more hours so that means the fate of running back Jonathan Dwyer currently remains up in the air. I suggested on Twitter during the game against the Carolina Panthers that the Steelers should look into trading Dwyer […]
Steelers Unlikely To Trade Jonathan Dwyer is a post from...
Jonathan Dwyer’s release from the Pittsburgh Steelers was one of the surprising moves in the NFL in teams’ attempts to get down to a 53-man roster. Dwyer was expected to be a utility back in the Steelers ground game, which looks stouter now than it has in some time.
Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports was able to give us some insight as to why the Steelers may have made the move:
Former Steelers running back Jonathan Dwyer passed through waivers without being claimed. He’s now a free agent and can sign with any team he wants.
Forget to mention earlier, ex-Steelers RB Jonathan Dwyer also among those who cleared waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent

The Pittsburgh Steelers finished their 2013 preseason winless Thursday night as they lost to the Carolina Panthers 25-10. Head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the injury situation following the game during his post game press conference. “The only injury is Will Johnson,” said Tomlin. “He had a hamstring of some description. He’s going to be evaluated.” [...]

Don't count quarterback Ben Roethlisberger among those concerned about the Pittsburgh Steelers' winless preseason.
Roethlisberger says having his team go 0-4 is hardly a problem. In fact, Roethlisberger says it may help the Steelers because it means the attention will shift to other teams, leaving Pittsburgh under the radar.
Roethlisberger and most of the starters took...
Some things gotta hurt more then others. Like when you’re at the club and all the girls keep passing you up left and right at the bar and then finally, when all the hot guys are gone and you’re left there competing against the doofy looking guy with the Bill Gates haircut and glasses who’s wearing a sweater vest and you say to yourself ‘man, the next girl’s just gotta...
Mike Tomlin’s mantra for years now has been ‘the standard is the standard.’ The standard he speaks is of is about winning, players stepping up in huge situations and guys filling in for starters without missing a beat.
Based on what I’ve seen over the last calendar year, the standard will continue to be the standard in Pittsburgh. Whether or not my definition of ‘standard’...
Mike Tomlin said he was going to keep only those who were deserving, and he did, cutting Jonathan Dwyer and keeping Derek Moye and Isaiah Green, among others.
Rule #1 of punt returns: don’t catch anything inside the 5 yard line. Rule #2: don’t run backwards into the endzone. I can only imagine Mike Tomlin blowing a gasket on this play, even though it was just preseason. Check out the GIF below:

The Pittsburgh Steelers thinned out their running back situation on Saturday cutting ties ties Jonathan Dwyer.
Dwyer, 24, had spent the last three seasons with the Steelers and ran the ball 156 times last year for 623 yards.

Minicamp, training camp and the preseason all are in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ rear-view mirror.
Now the games count.
Before the Steelers play their games, we’re going to play our own little game. It’s time for the good ol’ Win-Loss-Win-Loss-Win-Win-Loss-Win Game.
For the New York Jets, this will be the Loss-Loss-Loss-Loss-Loss-Loss-Loss-Loss Game.
This is the time of year...
