Stevie Johnson knows war is no laughing matter, but that didn’t stop him from trying a joke on Twitter that left many people outraged on Wednesday. The Buffalo Bills wide receiver sent a serious tweet about North Korea on Wednesday in light of the country’s threats to launch nuclear strikes against the US. North Korea tripping hard AF right now. Chill out with that Nuke talk. #uMadBro — STVN (@StevieJohnson13) April 3, 2013 There was nothing wrong at that point. In fact, Johnson was coming across as a legitimately concerned citizen who follows current events. But then he sent this: War is nothing to be played with. I apologize North Korea……..but if y’all do bomb 1st… Bomb Foxboro, Mass. Sincerely,#BillsMafia — STVN (@StevieJohnson13) April 3, 2013 Ooph. Based on a check of Johnson’s Twitter mentions, Bills fans found the tweet funny, while others did not. Johnson didn’t seem to think there was an issue, because he didn’t delete the tweet, and he kept it moving on Twitter by responding to fans and retweeting messages like nothing had happened. Johnson later attempted to address the tweet by blaming others for taking his joke too seriously: i know some of yall took it too serious.. but i have Much Respect for The Pats along with Every other NFL Team. Gonna to be a Great #NFL2013 — STVN (@StevieJohnson13) April 4, 2013 PatsFans i lo…like yall also. ask any1 in my fam. ive said TheBoro is my fav place to play-bkuz you Pats fans are Live! BUT not for long.. — STVN (@StevieJohnson13) April 4, 2013 Johnson should know better. Did he not learn anything from Rashard Mendenhall? I’m not even sure why he would joke about that, much less find it funny. Though we probably shouldn’t be surprised by the tweet given some of the other controversial things Johnson has done.
