Stick with Donovan when he needs you most....

i hope all you mcnabb haters who called for feeley to start (including early in 03) enjoyed the game yesterday. trivia: tell me the last time donovan mcnabb threw 4 INTs in a game. answer: NEVER. that's right. i'll admit that yes, number 5 has fallen on some hard times the past few years. but has it been all his fault? hell no. look at the team around him. his best WR (since that guy in dallas) has been a career slot reciever (curtis). the other recievers (brown, lewis) play less physical than todd pinkston (didn't think that was possible until this year) and promising young recievers (avant and baskett) rarely see playing time. the offensive line this year is well, offensive. while they have played some good games--detroit and new england come to mind--they have been inconsistent and at times, downright deplorable. Dmac's only weapon is brian westbrook. while it's easier said than done, other teams know that if you shut down 36, the eagles are not going to score. they also know that andy reid is the most predictable coach in the NFL. he's gonna throw 40+ times per game no matter what. the running backs are averaging 7.2 yards per carry? it's raining/snowing? the defense knows our running game makes only token appearances? so what. we're gonna throw no matter who our QB is or how the game is playing out cuz that's what andy reid wants to do. and we all know that andy is smarter than all of us. the bad playcalling/game planning--and overall coaching--combined with the mediocre-at-best players surrounding donovan mcnabb and brian westbrook, the inconsistency of the defense, the failure to adapt to game conditions, the embarrasing play of special teams, and the fact that the front office has refused to address the team's needs (how many undrafted rookies are on this team?) while our division opponents have all gotten better, all combine to give this team a 5-7 record. donovan mcnabb is a very small part of why this team is so bad. does he deserve some blame? sure. but the poor play of this team cannot be placed solely at his feet. now i want you to close your eyes and remember the years between the randall cunningham and donovan mcnabb eras. ugh. now with that in mind, be careful what you wish for, because you just may get it. p.s. AJ feeley now has 8 interceptions in just 3 games. that's two more than mcnabb had in 10 games...
