As the Saints wrapped up their player-run workouts for the summer, right tackle and player representative Jon Stinchcomb thinks the proximity to the scheduled open of NFL training camps may be a catalyst for the progress in labor talks, reports James Varney of The Times-Picayune.
“My guess is it’s starting to become crunch time,” Stinchcomb said. “For both sides. When CBAs are expiring it’s always those last minute deals. You know, the same thing we see every year with the draft picks. The draft is in April and nobody gets signed until late in July.
“So I think it’s that same mentality–until your feet are pressed to the fire, that’s when you get that sense of urgency. It’s regrettable that it got to this point.”
Stinchcomb, 31, also weighed in on the status of a right knee injury that bothered him throughout last season.
