Peyton Manning makes his return to action tonight, as a member of the Denver Broncos, when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It is a rematch of last season’s playoff game, but the Broncos are far from the same team.

Denver Broncos

The new era in Denver is one that sees Manning take over for Tim Tebow, who is now in New York with the Jets.

Tebow provided fans in Denver, and nationwide, with one of the most unexpected and thrilling playoff victories in recent memory, but fans in Denver will surely be much happier with Manning.

The key factor to look for in this game will be the play of Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas, the Broncos’ top two receivers. Both had solid seasons last year, but they will certainly see an increase in production with Peyton as their quarterback. This was even seen in the preseason, as Decker was a favorite target for Peyton.

Besides the departure of Tebow, the second most talked about issue has to do with Peyton Manning’s neck.

He has not played a in a regular season game since the 2011 season, so this will be his first real test of how he is holding up. Not only how his neck is holding up, but his entire body as well, considering he has faced limited contact since his return.

Seeing whether or not Peyton is skittish in the pocket and perhaps too quick to throw the ball away, will be something to look for as well.

Pittsburgh Steelers

In Pittsburgh, Todd Haley is now in charge of the offense, which will be most likely be without Rashard Mendenhall in the backfield. Isaac Redman is also banged up, which means more pressure will fall on Ben Roethlisberger, not that this has ever been a problem in the past.

There are also injuries on defense for Pittsburgh, as James Harrison is unlikely to play. He is crucial to the success of their defense, so his absence should only further Peyton’s success in his return.

Broncos-Steelers Prediction

This game is very even on paper, but it is very tough to pick against Peyton in his return.

The Steelers have several key injuries, including Harrison and Mendenhall, which do not allow them to put the best possible team on the field.

Peyton will prove that he is just as good as he was before his injury, and he will begin the new era in Denver successfully.

Video: Manning and RG3 Impress in Debuts

Making bold moves in the NFL takes courage. Whether it’s deciding to send an all out blitz on 3rd and long when you need a stop or it’s putting all your trust into a specific player that you feel can help your franchise win, it’s the bold moves that make or break a team. The Denver Broncos and the Washington Redskins were two teams who made bold moves this offseason and if...

Von Miller Keeps Memory of Tim Tebow Alive in Denver By 'Tebowing' After Clinching Win in Peyton Manning's Debut (Video)

Peyton Manning helped lead the new-look Denver Broncos to a big win Sunday night. But while the new quarterback was establishing the start of his era in the Mile High city, one Broncos teammate made sure to pay respects to the team's old signal caller. Von Miller, the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2011, picked up where he left off last season on Sunday night. The...

Recap: Peyton Manning Reads Dick LeBeau Like a Map, Steelers Lose

Peyton Manning is back, and it looks like he never left. If you want proof that he's the greatest quarterback of all time, watch his 4th quarter against the Steelers. He saw everything the defense was planning and he knew exactly how to stop it. The defense had no answer for the adjustments Manning was making on the fly. It sucks to lose on opening weekend, but half the teams...

Desire to see Tebow as Jets QB is created by the media, not the fans

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ: After the Jets' shellacking of Buffalo yesterday 48-28 I was chatting with a friend  who covers the Jets for a major media outlet on the way down Rex Ryan's post-game presser. He told me his boss emailed him to make sure he got plenty of Tebow stuff  for his game story.Tebow stuff? 5 plays for 11 yards. How do you generate "plenty of Tebow stuff...

Not a lot of Tebow for Jets, but just enough

Tim Tebow wasn't needed much in this one for the New York Jets. The NFL's most popular backup quarterback was on the field for just nine plays on offense, including two in the much-hyped wildcat package, as the Jets routed the Buffalo Bills 48-28 on Sunday in the season opener. Tebow's biggest play came late in the game on special teams, when he recovered an onside...

Week One: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Denver Broncos Preview

Two straight Pittsburgh Steeler previews on this blog have been for games against the Denver Broncos. But this isn’t the same Bronco team that the Steelers were upset by in the playoffs last year. Who would have ever thought that signing Peyton Manning would actually detract your media attention? Tim Tebow is gone. The offense is much more conventional. It’s a different animal...

Peyton just doesn't live up to hype

Normally I ignore popularly held misconceptions about me. For instance, many women believe, in terms of looks, I favor Idris Elba, the actor who played Stringer Bell on the HBO classic "The Wire." I let the comparison roll off my perfectly sculpted shoulders. What's to be gained by correcting star-struck women and pointing out that I'm more Denzel than Idris? But...

Hilarious Tim Tebow New York Jets parody video

Steelers Offense Atrocious On First Downs Against Broncos

If an offense can't move the ball on first down in a football game, it sets the stage for a long night offensively, and it puts more pressure on the quarterback to convert 3rd and long situations. That is exactly what happened to the Pittsburgh Steelers last night in their 31-19 loss to the Denver Broncos in the Sunday night opener. While the game plan was to possess the football...

49ers, Cowboys, Redskins, Jets start well

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By BARRY WILNER AP Pro Football Writer Yes, it's one game in a four-month season. Many teams that sizzle in September disappear in December. Sure, their fans could be screaming...
