Three weeks into training camp, it appears as though the three-way quarterback competition is finally winding down. Matt Flynn and Russell Wilson appear to be front-runners for the starting gig while Tarvaris Jackson is presumably the odd-man out. This shouldn't be alarming at all. What might be surprising, however, is the fact that Jackson has some legitimate trade value. Which teams have interest in acquiring Jackson? I honestly have no clue, but two logical teams do come to mind.

  1. Green Bay Packers  --  Green Bay has arguably the best NFL quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. But what if Rodgers were to get injured during the middle of the season? After losing Matt Flynn in free agency to Seattle, would they be comfortable handing the team over to the likes of Graham Harrell (1st year) and B.J. Coleman (rookie) should Rodgers be injured? Based off what those two inexperienced quarterbacks have shown this offseason (1TD, 3INT), I'm not sure they would be at all. Jackson has experience in the west-coast offense, so I could see why the Packers might want to make a run at Jackson in the coming few weeks.
  2. Philadelphia Eagles  --  Michael Vick is a quarterback that loves to run, and because of it is at a higher risk of getting injured than any other starting quarterback in the league. In fact, he has already gotten banged up in the first two preseason games; it's not even the regular season yet, and he's already seeing the medical room! He could be completely out until the regular season, thanks to the injured ribs he received last night from New England. Philadelphia has to feel better about their backup quarterbacks (Nick Foles, Trent Edwards) than Green Bay, but would they be comfortable with them enough knowing that one of them would likely have to start in place of Vick at some point this season? In steps Jackson, a proven veteran with experience in the west-coast offense (see the theme here with the familiarity of the west-coast offense?).

These are two teams that come to mind when I think about trading Jackson. Will any of these trades happen? Will ANY trade of Jackson come to fruition at all? We shall soon see, but one thing for sure is that Jackson's days in Seattle are likely over.
