Bills coach Chan Gailey said tight end Scott Chandler is out for Sunday's game in San Diego due to his sprained ankle. That means Mike Caussin and Lee Smith will share tight end duties in the game. Meanwhile, cornerback Aaron Williams did not practice Friday due to a sore calf. "Aaron didn't practice today but we're not going to list him out," Gailey said. "He's still got a chance if things go well tonight, tomorrow, with some work, who knows? He might play in a pinch." Starting guard Chad Rinehart sat out but is expected to start. "Chad just tweaked something in his shoulder and we held him out for today, but we think it won't be an issue at all," Gailey said. Safeties George Wilson (neck) and Jairus Byrd (shin) both practiced fully and are ready to start. ---Mark Gaughan

No Chandler again

The chances of TE Scott Chandler playing against the team that drafted him this Sunday are getting extremely slim. Chandler is not practicing for a third straight day and at best would be considered doubtful with his badly sprained ankle. Aaron Williams is also not practicing and considered a long shot for Sunday.

Chandler a no go for Sunday

Buffalo’s offense has endured its share of losses to injury this season. They’ll be without one more weapon on Sunday. Tight end Scott Chandler was ruled out of this weekend’s game against San Diego due to an ankle injury. “Scott is out,” said head coach Chan Gailey after Friday’s practice. Chandler did not practice all week after suffering the ankle injury in last Sunday’s...

Chandler and 2 DBs not practicing

Scott Chandler was not expected to practice and there are two defensive backs along with him. Aaron Williams and Jairus Byrd are also not practicing here on Wednesday. Williams is considered a long shot to play this week. Byrd is expected to be fine for Sunday according to Gailey.

No practice for Chandler

Bills head coach Chan Gailey confirmed that TE Scott Chandler will not practice with the team here today (Wednesday). “He will not practice today,” said Gailey. ”He’s going to try to continue to get treatment and maybe be on the field for a little bit (Thursday). It was a lot more encouraging than it was two days ago.” Chandler, who suffered an ankle injury last Sunday...

The 2011 Buffalo Bills: What Could Have Been OR Why Chan Gailey Deserves Another Year

One more year, Chan. What if?It’s a question that’s probably not a healthy one to ask when thinking about the past. You can drive yourself insane thinking, “If I had just done this differently, everything would have been better!”Sadly, it’s hard to not to play that game. You’ll always wonder what could have been.Such is the case with the 2011 Buffalo Bills. It was a season...

Rinehart just nicked

Starting RG Chad Rinehart did not practice on Friday, but it’s nothing that has Buffalo’s offensive staff overly concerned. “Rinehart just tweaked something in his shoulder and we held him out,” said head coach Chan Gailey after Friday’s practice. ”We don’t think it’ll be an issue at all on Sunday.” Rinehart has manned the right guard spot ever since Kraig Urbik...

Bills safeties look good for Sun.

Buffalo’s starting safety tandem of George Wilson and Jairus Byrd are looking good for Sunday’s game in San Diego with both of them practicing fully on Thursday. “I think we’ve got a good chance to have them,” said head coach Chan Gailey. “George practiced fully today and Jairus was full practice.” If Wilson starts on Sunday it’ll be his first action since the Dallas...

Still hope for CB Williams

Bills rookie CB Aaron Williams has not practiced at all this week after sustaining a knee injury in last week’s game, but head coach Chan Gailey is holding out hope that Williams might come around in the next day or so. “Aaron didn’t practice (Friday), but we didn’t want to list him out,” said Gailey. ”He’s still got a chance if things go well tonight and tomorrow...

McKelvin ready to bounce back

Leodis McKelvin is expected to start in place of Aaron Williams at CB Sunday if the rookie can’t go due to a knee injury against the Chargers. He stepped in last week after Williams was injured, but he’ll have a full day of work against a talented receiving corps Sunday. Fortunately McKelvin’s outlook is a good one for the position he plays. As McKelvin sees it, he just has...
