Appearing at a football camp run by his brother in Connecticut, TE Aaron Hernandez fielded questions about football and why he was there on crutches. Hernandez confirmed that he recently had hip surgery. The injury kept him out of the final two games of the regular season and limited his time during the playoff loss to the New York Jets. Hip injuries have been notoriously bad for professional athletes, especially football players due to the high-impact contact they endure. However, if Hernandez was able to see playing time during the playoff game with the injury, it must not be anything too serious, like the one that ended Roosevelt Colvin’s season back in 2003. Hernandez showed that he has the potential to be a big-time threat in the passing game in the mold of Dallas Clark. If he can make a full recovery, he should be able to build on the 45-catch, 563-yard season he enjoyed in his rookie year.
