Ted Ginn Jr.'s 32-yard punt return to set up a third-quarter touchdown in Super Bowl XLVII could be his final big play for the San Francisco 49ers.
Ted Ginn Sr., a highly respected Ohio high school coach, tells the Cleveland Plain Dealer that his son will be looking for a new team in free agency this offseason.
"They don't use him," said Ginn's father. "He has to find a home."
That may be easier said than done. Upon entering the open market last March, the younger Ginn made it clear that he wanted to be known as a wide receiver instead of a mere return specialist, although drawing interest from the Lions, Ravens, and Vikings for his return skills, Ginn was forced to re-sign with the 49ers on a one-year contract.
After losing primary kickoff-return duties and catching just two passes in 2012, Ginn should expect a similarly soft market in the coming months.
