Found March 09, 2013 on Football Nation:
Tennessee was head of the class when the AFC South formed in 2002, winning the division in back-to-back seasons. The Titans captured only one more since then—in ’08—playing second fiddle to Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. When Manning missed the ’11 season and was released by Indy in ’12, Tennessee was primed to challenge Houston for AFC South supremacy.Yeeeeeeaaaaah…about that.Jake Locker struggled, Matt Hasselbeck was worse and it took almost the entire season for the patchwork offensive line to get on the same page. The defense played so embarrassingly at times Mike Munchak canned Jerry Gray in what was largely considered a job-preserving move.Tennessee finished third in the division—behind the dominant Texans and resilient Colts—at 6-10. Last season revealed more questions than answers. The following five are the most pressing.(All stats courtesy of ESPN, Team Rankings, Pro Football Focus and Pro Football Reference. Tennessee Titans ready to add talent around Chris Johnson

The Titans are a team in search of an identity beyond Chris Johnson and the 2013 free agency cycle should help provide clues to that identity. The toughest decision for the Titans in 2013 is to decide whether they will be defined by Chris Johnson or by the play of their young quarterback in Jake Locker. History has shown that quarterbacks have to be the focus in the NFL, but Chris...

The Titans have their QB of the future, how do they help him in the draft?

Titans among teams with can't-miss first round draft picks Nobody wants to get it wrong on a first round draft choice.  The sad reality for teams across the NFL is that it's happened in the past and will continue to happen as long as the league is alive and well.  The truth of the matter is that perennial playoffs teams and teams with a solid core of skill players...

In Depth 2013: Tennessee Titans

A 9-7 record in2011 under first-year coach Mike Munchak and the presumed development of second-year quarterback Jake Locker had fans and observers intrigued by the Tennessee Titans chances of a playoff run in 2012. Injuries to Locker and several other key players quickly scuttled those hopes, however. And despite scoring 50 more points in 2012 than 2011, Tennessee’s defense collapsed...

Assessing the free agent guard class from a Titans perspective

Since I wrote about the Titans' depth chart holes, that also means I can look at positions where the Titans may be looking for a player in free agency. I've already covered the tight ends, but another position where I strongly believe they'll be looking for a veteran (or maybe more than one) in free agency is offensive guard. If it feels like I've done one of...

Titans Rumors: Tennessee chasing Dwight Freeney

The three veteran pass rushers Usi Umenyiora, Dwight Freeney and John Abraham are all garnering interest from several parties.  One unheralded contender could be the Tennessee Titans according to TitanInsider: The Titans have a number of players at need positions on their radar as the free agency period nears.  Defensive end is one position where the Titans have at least discussed...

Jeff Saturday is still irked that the Colts did not push for perfection

If you set you wayback machine to 2009, you will recall that retired NFL center Jeff Saturday was snapping the ball to Peyton Manning on their way to an appearance in Super Bowl XLIV. That team was on fire during both the regular and post season and had the opportunity to take a crack at perfect season honors before they rested their starters at the 14-0 mark. Please click here...

Denver Broncos: 5 Biggest Questions Heading Into 2013 Offseason

I’ve finally come to terms with how quickly the season ended for the Denver Broncos, although it ended in a rather unexpected way. The team had finally started to gel behind quarterback Peyton Manning during the second half of their week six-game in San Diego where the Chargers were dominating on both sides of the ball.  The Broncos came out in the second half as a team possessed...

John Fox, The Move the Denver Broncos Must Make to Win the Super Bowl

The Denver Broncos were a few inches away from hosting the Patriots in the AFC Championship game.   Just a few inches from another Brady –vs- Manning showdown; however, thanks to a misplay by safety Rahim Moore—the Broncos’ season was ended shorter then they had planned.   A season that went as perfectly as President … Continue reading »
