GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Terrell Manning didn't think he did anything wrong. After delivering a hit on Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Brady Quinn in Friday night's preseason game, the Green Bay Packers' second-year linebacker saw the flag on the field and still didn't think it was a penalty on him. Roughing the passer was the call. Manning apologized to his teammates for giving the Seahawks a free 15 yards, but now the 23-year-old is pleading with the NFL to make that the end of it. "I hope and pray that I don't (get fined)," Manning said. "Be nice to me, NFL." The NFL has been handing out fines in recent years for the type of play that Manning was involved in. Chicago Bears linebacker Jon Bostic was fined 21,000 earlier this week for a hit that was initially glorified as a great play. Not long ago, the hits by Manning and Bostic wouldn't have even been penalized during the game. Now, Manning is worried what else he might receive in addition to the flag. "I don't want one of those (fine notices) in my locker," Manning said. "My mom would be mad about that." Manning didn't get an explanation from the official. When asked how he knows what players can and can't do when tackling a quarterback, Manning replied, "You don't. You don't." Manning, a fifth-round pick last year, is scheduled to earn 480,000 for the 2013 season. "You don't want to go out there and pay 21,000 or 50,000 for a fine on a hit, or something like that," Manning said. "It is what it is. We saw what we saw and the ref saw what he saw. He obviously threw the flag. No hard feelings towards him. He saw what he saw." Manning heard the loud reaction of the crowd when the call was announced over the Lambeau Field speakers, but he had yet to see the replay. Fine or no fine, Manning realizes he'll have to adjust his approach the next time he gets near a quarterback. "I feel like it hit me a little harder after I got the flag," Manning said. "Then I was like, 'OK, now I have to be a little careful on how I'm hitting out here.' You don't want to take that fine." Follow Paul Imig on Twitter
