TEAMS: San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears
Pundits across the nation are hyping up The San Francisco 49ers, claiming that they’re the best team in the NFL. They continue from last year praising the defense but this year they are also applauding the offense for its improvement. The 49ers retained all 11 defensive starters and made big offseason additions at wide receiver and running back. They brought in Randy Moss and Mario Manningham and drafted AJ Jenkins at the wide receiver position. They also brought in Brandon Jacobs and drafted LaMichael James to further bolster the running game. They really did add a lot of weapons to the offense at the skill positions.
In focusing on bringing in talented offensive weapons, they may have turned the previous year’s biggest strength into this season’s biggest weakness. They forgot about the special teams.
They didn’t bring back Blake Costanzo, their biggest special team’s ace from last year. They let him sign with the bears even though he wanted to stay in San Francisco. They opted to ...

San Francisco 49ers lead NFC West in power rankings
Now that two full weeks of NFL football is in the books, it’s only fair to take a look at some of the early season power rankings, particularly in the NFC west division. Up to this point the division looks as tough as any other division in the league. Teams in this division have already demonstrated the fire to win big games, as evident by some of the upsets that the teams in...
Can anyone challenge the 49ers in the West
San Francisco, CA. Before last season began, it was really up in the air as to who the favorite was to win the NFC West in 2011. After seemingly several years where this division has been regarded as the worst in all of the NFL, the San Francisco 49ers proved what all football fans have known for years….the National Football League is the most unpredictable of all the major...
Protecting against sacks key for 49ers this week
Alex Smith and the San Francisco 49ers understand the value of taking a sack.
Smith was sacked more than any other NFL quarterback last season and is on a pace to be dropped even more times this year. But that hasn't stopped the San Francisco offense from thriving during the team's 2-0 start.
While Smith already has been sacked seven times, San Francisco's offense has...
Do the 49ers have the top safety combo in the NFL?
It’s no secret that I focus on DB play when watching tape. I look at footwork, range, eyes, tackling and angles. The key techniques you need to be a productive player in the secondary.
And in today’s NFL, you better have two safeties in the backend that can get off the numbers in Cover 2, play the deep middle of the field, walk down over a slot, get hands on a TE and tackle in...
Alex Smiths Fantasy Potential Moving Forward
Alex Smith Fantasy Football
Lets look at two quarterbacks, quarterback A and quarterback B, through the first two weeks of fantasy football. QB A posted 437 yards, four touchdowns, zero interceptions a 115.9 QB rating and 34 fantasy points. San Francisco 49ers: Week 3 NFL Power Rankings (#9)
Last week: 13 (+4)
Record: 2-0
I still don’t think this team is much of a Super Bowl threat because eventually the turnover differentials will…blah blah blah regression I’m done repeating myself. Let’s focus on something positive, namely this amazing defense. This was Jim Harbaugh’s first full offseason with this team and many people expected an improved offense because...
Vikings know they must be cautious of Moss
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. No team in the NFL understands how motivated receiver Randy Moss gets for big games better than the Minnesota Vikings, his club for the first seven seasons of his career and one ill-fated month in 2010.Minnesota has been the beneficiary of many of those big moments, such as when he scored two touchdowns in his first regular-season game and when he made his "...
CHFF TV: 49ers-Vikings an ATS Mismatch
The 49ers are 16-4 under Jim Harbaugh and 15-4 against the spread. That includes 6-3 on the road. These trends point to 49ers domination in Minnesota.
Moss eager for return to Metrodome
Randy Moss appreciates the start he got with the Vikings, but he anticipates a mix of cheers and boos. Either way, he said, it means he’s doing something right.
NFL fines 49ers player for wearing red sleeves
Since when has it been a crime to wear red sleeves in this country? Well, the answer is never. Not unless your San Francisco 49ers cornerback Tarell Brown.Brown was pivotal in the 49ers 27-19 victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday night. He played in all 65 of SF's defensive snaps and six additional plays on special teams. Unfortunately for him, he also wore red sleeves under...
Randy returns
Randy Moss returns to the Metrodome for the first time in the regular season as a visitor. Will he be the Moss of old or just an old Moss?
Know Your Enemy - San Francisco 49ers vs. Minnesota Vikings
49ERS vs. VIKINGS (Sun Sept 23 1 PM ET)
The 49ers are off to a 2-0 start and many are saying they have the best team in the league. Alex Smith is playing well with his new weapons and San Francisco ha the leagues 3rd best rushing offense.
On top of that they pass defense has been decent and their run defense is stellar just like last season.
The Vikings lost to the...
USA TODAY SPORTS WEEKLY uses “elite” and Alex Smith in same sentence
I know you are sitting there thinking I am making this up just to have something to talk about, but as you see from picture above, USA TODAY SPORTS WEEKLY has already started throwing around the word “elite” and Alex Smith in the same sentence. Are you serious? Didn’t the so-called “experts” learn last year not to throw the word “elite” around? Wasn’t it bad...
49ers vs. Vikings: PJD's Masturbatory Game Three Preview
Cover Your Eyes, Children! Here's what you would be doing if you loved your children this Sunday. Instead of sitting them down in front of the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings football game, you would instead tell them that you love them, that you care for them, and that you want them to live a better life than what you have lived. That life includes transgender...
49ers QB Alex Smith Nearly Fined $15,000 By NFL For Wearing SF Giants Cap
Alex Smith may soon be the owner of a $15,000 hat.
If the San Francisco 49ers quarterback continues to show up to post-game press conferences donning a San Francisco Giants hat, he will be fined $15,000 by the NFL for violating a league policy on wearing non-sponsered gear 90 minutes before and after games, according to a report Wednesday from Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury...
