The 49ers are looking to rid themselves of the 7.5 million dollars Alex Smith will be paid in 2013. Reportedly the 49ers are actively shopping Alex Smith to potential suitors such as the Browns, Eagles, Bills, Chiefs and the Cardinals. Alex Smith catapulted the 49ers to an impressive 6-2 record this season after just taking them to the AFC Championship last year. Smith sustained a concussion and after that was replaced by Colin Kaepernick. With what he’s been able to accomplish these past couple seasons he is certainly going to be one of the most sought after veteran quarterbacks in the league. The Jets have been awfully quiet over there lately and they might be ready to take the “foot” out of their mouth/ass and make a splash. The Jets could benefit from an upgrade at quarterback and after they shed the money on Revis’ contract might be able to pursue Alex Smith. A good question is, with two teams in our division that could be potential suitors which one would be a better...

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills and possibly the Philadelphia Eagles are interested in acquiring 49ers quarterback Alex Smith during the offseason. The 49ers will try to trade Smith first.  They won’t wait too long out of respect for him, since he’s going to want to find a new team as soon as possible.   Need NFL Tickets? ...

Report: Alex Smith Will Not Be Member of 49ers Next Year, Will Be Traded or Released This Offseason

After being usurped as the 49ers starting quarterback by Colin Kaepernick this season, rumors have swirled that Alex Smith wants out of San Francisco. It appears the Niners will grant him that wish. NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported via Twitter on Tuesday that the 49ers will attempt to trade Smith after their season ends this Sunday, and if that proves unsuccessful he will be respectfully...

Report: Alex Smith Could Be Headed To The Chiefs

Alex Smith Will Ask To Be Released from 49ers

As the San Francisco 49ers prepare for the Super Bowl against the Baltimore Ravens, 49ers QB Alex Smith is preparing for the next chapter in his NFL career. Since Colin Kaepernick took over as the starting quarterback, Smith became the backup quarterback. Smith is not content to be a backup and feels with last years success he should be a starter. Will the 49ers trade him or release...

Some Browns bits on Alex Smith, Leroy Hoard, Ray Horton, Ozzie Newsome and more

There’s not one topic I feel like talking about today as we endure a week of Super Bowl and Hall of Fame propoganda. The Browns introduced their defensive coordinator Ray Horton yesterday, but even that was putting a cap on old news. With that in mind, I thought I would just combine a bunch of things into one post today… Alex Smith to the Browns? So Brandon Weeden thought he...

49ers reportedly will try to trade Alex Smith before releasing him

Alex Smith has been a good teammate despite being demoted this season, so the 49ers reportedly will try to treat him well in return. Smith had a good season for San Francisco before being replaced as the team’s starting quarterback after being concussed during a Week 10 tie against St. Louis. Colin Kaepernick replaced him, led the team to the Super Bowl, and has clearly emerged...

Let Smith-to-Cards speculation commence

Oddly enough, maybe the two biggest stories out of Super Bowl week have been related to deer-antler spray (?) and the future of one team's backup quarterback. With rumors circulating that 49ers quarterback Alex Smith will request his release after the season, FOXSports.com reported Tuesday that the Niners instead will seek to trade their former starter in hopes of recouping...

Notebook: Alex still playing the good soldier

Alex Smith ran off the field at Candlestick Park two weeks ago to a standing ovation and cheers from the sellout crowd, not much different from the reception last January when he took the 49ers oh so close to a Super Bowl. Now relegated to a backup role with the NFC champions, Smith's trip to the Big Easy this week leading up to Sunday's Super Bowl against Baltimore is hardly...

Alex Smith Interest In Reuniting With Browns OC Norv Turner?

Alex Smith told reporters that he “loved” playing for new Browns OC Norv Turner during their time together in San Francisco. “Loved my time with Norv,” said Smith, per Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “…He’s a great play caller. I just remember he had a great feel for the game on gameday and a great feel for what the defense was doing, and like I said...

Darrelle Revis To The 49ers For Alex Smith?

Here’s another installment of speculative trade ideas for Jets CB Darrelle Revis. ESPN’s Adam Schefter joined SPN Radio Tuesday morning and tossed out a speculative trade idea that would involve the Jets sending Revis to the San Francisco 49ers in return for QB Alex Smith and a second round pick, per Jane McManus. There’s no question that the Jets could use quarterback and...
