TEAMS: Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings
The Detroit Lions sure are cute. I've raved about their awesome wide receiver Calvin Johnson, the boner-inducing defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, and have been jealous of their metal music listening head coach in Jim Schwartz. In comparison, I bet Leslie Frazier listens to the Charmels before a game starts. I mean, they're fine and all, but ... Before a game? You're not having sex on the sidelines, man.Either way, I've started to sour a bit on the Lions recently, and it largely has to do with them having greater success than my favorite team in the Vikings. Now, I DO foresee a crash back to earth this season where they play some middling ball largely because they didn't upgrade their defense this offseason, and also partially because they've turned into a team with a bunch of criminals (says the guy who writes a blog about the Vikings, I get it). That's where the Detroit Lions Monopoly board comes into play above. Hilarious! Go To Jail is their only option,...

Answering the Detroit Lions’ backfield question
A tough question becomes simple with one small nod from the team doctors. When the Detroit Lions’ medical crew gives running back Jahvid Best that nod, their backfield issues disappear.
But that just won’t happen soon. With the ever-increasing concussion crackdown in the NFL, Best’s third such injury may be a death sentence.
With Best not cleared to play, and no timetable...
Detroit (Lions) Pride Cheerleader Bikini Calendar Shoot On Exotic Lake Michigan
Isn’t it time the Detroit Lions organization puts some effort into rewarding its unofficial cheerleading team, the Detroit Pride? One of the final holdouts in the NFL to not allow cheerleaders anywhere near 60,000 slobbering meathead fans, the Lions finally allowed the Pride entrance to Ford Field in 2010.
Now comes word that the ladies are even shooting bikini calendars – made...

Detroit Lions: Waiting on Cliff Avril Pays Off
Detroit Lions defensive end Cliff Avril reported to training camp on August 5, ending a 9-day holdout. After a breakout 11-sack season last year, Avril came into the offseason looking to be paid like a Pro Bowler on a long-term deal. The Lions had other plans, sticking him with the one-year franchise tag.
Like many players tagged this year, Avril refused to immediately sign his...
Louis Delmas’ Knee Injury Provides Time to Recover, Opportunity for Amari Spievey and Others
Training camp injuries and accidents always force fans and media types to dwell on the negative. “How could this happen now?” or “why wasn’t the problem solved sooner?” seem to be the biggest complaints with the recent news on Detroit Lions’ safety Louis Delmas.
Instead of operating entirely within in the negative, let’s take a moment to consider a few positive elements...
2012 Detroit Lions Training Camp Report: Don’t Bring Your Own Water!
Did you know that the Detroit Lions used to hold training camp in Portsmouth, Ohio? That’s where the team went each summer from 1929-1933 to get in game shape. Now, players make a short drive from their homes to the team facility in Allen Park, which sits in a business park featuring numerous Ford offices. The tallest building in the park is the indoor practice facility.

Injuries decimating Lions RB depth chart
This isn't a recording: the Lions could soon be in the market for help at running back with injuries piling up at that position for the third consecutive year. Stephon Green injured his knee in Monday's practice and joined the team's top two tailbacks -- Jahvid Best and Mikel Leshoure -- on the sideline. That leaves only veteran Kevin Smith, who slimmed down and appears...
Delmas has knee surgery, Lions won't rush him back
The lingering concerns about the ability of the Lions to hold up in the secondary multiplied Wednesday, when the team announced safety Louis Delmas had a surgical procedure on his left knee. The procedure was performed Tuesday by renowned surgeon James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala. Delmas hasn't been practicing and the Lions carefully guarded details of his absence. Coach Jim...
Delmas out indefinitely after undergoing knee surgery
There’s a couple of things that you don’t want to see appear next to each other when reading about the Lions in training camp. Some of those things include, knee, surgery and Dr. James Andrews.
Unfortunately for the Lions they’ve already seen some of those terms appear in the training camp reports and now we’ve seen our first Dr. James Andrews mention.
According to Mlive...
The Detroit Lions Secondary Takes Another Blow
It is August the 9th, and the 2012 campaign for the Detroit Lions has taken another huge blow. Of course the blow comes where the team is weakest…the defensive secondary. Arguably the best player there, Safety Louis Delmas, has had knee surgery and is out indefinitely, leaving the Lions with far more questions than any kind of real answers for the issues in the secondary. The good...
