The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Philadelphia 17 – Cleveland 16

The Good

Thanks, rook

Philadelphia Secondary. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Kurt Coleman, each with a pair of interceptions of Browns Rookie Quarterback, Brandon Weeden, had themselves career games to open the 2012 NFL Season. Almost makes you forget the “other” members of the Philadelphia Secondary. Perhaps they were fortunate to open the year against Weeden, but DRC and Coleman showed why they belong on this NFC East dream team. Now, the rest of the Eagles 53, that’s another question.

The Bad

At my age, this thing doesn’t always work so good

Cleveland’s rookies. Welcome to the NFL. Brandon Weeden looked like a rookie coming from a simple offense, completely overwhelmed by the speed and complexity of the NFL. Trent Richardson, on the other hand, had a seemingly simpler task. Run, that way, faster and stronger than those guys. The next Adrian Peterson sure didn’t look the part. The #3 overall pick needs to have impact, from day 1. Richardson was an afterthought. Overshadowed by the two steaming piles of football laid by the Eagles and Browns.

The Ugly

Poor footwork, check. Poor Body Position, Check. Poor delivery, Check. THROW!

Michael Vick. The timing of Michael Vick’s (football) downfall is overly coincidental with the meteoric rise of Robert Griffin III. Vick is no longer the player he was, even from two seasons ago. He isn’t the running threat he used to be, and his confidence in his failing arm and judgment is worrisome. Four interceptions should be a dagger, unless you happen to be playing the Browns. I don’t expect Vick to make it through the season, equally because of his health and his diminishing ability. Mike, meet Bob, in Washington.
