Found February 11, 2014 on cover32 - Chiefs:
Cover32′s top ten quarterbacks in free agency list is officially out. Luckily for Chiefs fans, Kansas City won’t really be too interested in any of these guys. While there’s been a lot of buzz about Alex Smith getting a contract extension in Kansas City, there is no doubt he will be under center for the Chiefs next season. In fact, the quarterback group may be pretty set in general. The Chiefs gave Chase Daniel a nice contract last offseason to be Smith’s backup, and he played pretty well in extended action against the San Diego Chargers in Week 17. The team also has Tyler Bray as its third stringer and his contract won’t be up until the end of the 2015 season. So it wouldn’t appear the Chiefs are in line to sign a quarterback this offseason. But if any of you don’t feel comfortable with Daniel or Bray as the backups to Smith, maybe one of those guys in the top ten could fill their spot. Would any of the top ten running backs in the draft fit in Kansas City? Power Rankings: Alex Smith snubbed on new list ranking all 32 NFL QBs

With each passing year, no pun intended, the National Football League becomes more and more of a quarterback-driven league. The day and age of teams running the football 40 times per game are a thing of the past, replaced by an era in which quarterbacks throwing 50 passes across four quarters of play is commonplace. Thus, having the right guy under center is more important now than...

The best running back pick in Chiefs history is still going

You can nitpick many Kansas City Chiefs for their performance. But Jamaal Charles isn’t one of them. Sir Charles had a truly amazing season last year, but he’s been a true playmaker ever since he got into the NFL. Charles has averaged 5.6 yards a carry for his career. That’s tied for seventh all-time as it stands right now and Charles is the only true running back in the top...

Alex Smith Excited About Kansas City Chiefs’ Potential in 2014

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith may still be feeling the sting of the season-ending 45-44 loss in the playoffs at Indianapolis, but he’s also looking forward to bigger and better things in 2014. “I’m very excited, if you look at our last eight or nine games offensively, we really did some good things and took off a little bit there,” Smith said, via the Kansas...

Any Chiefs interest in the top ten free agent running backs?

Our cover32 editorial staff kept their top ten free agency lists going today, this time focusing on the running backs. There are no Chiefs of course on the list, but there are definitely some recognizable names. Why Michael Sam is exactly what the Chiefs need

Leadership can come in many different forms – whether it’s emotional, vocal or by example. The Chiefs seem to have quite a few vocal leaders, and even more players that lead by example. But who is the heart and soul of the team? Who on the Kansas City Chiefs has the story that brings them all together to fight for a common cause? Take a look at the Super Bowl, for instance. The...

The Chiefs must take advantage of their core

The nucleus of this Chiefs team – players such as Derrick Johnson, Tamba Hali, Jamaal Charles, and Brandon Flowers – have been through a lot together over the last several seasons. They have experienced both division titles and 2-14 seasons. Derrick Johnson has played for five different head coaches in his nine seasons with the team. They have been through rough times together...

What will an Alex Smith extension cost the Chiefs?

This offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs have plenty to take care of within their own ranks. Of all their chores, none are more pressing than locking up Alex Smith with a contract extension. Smith, long seen as a game manager by most around the NFL, has become one of the better signal-callers around. At first glance, the numbers would make you think otherwise. The 29-year-old only...

Alex Smith Looks To Be The Future In Kansas City

Jamie Squire/Getty Images Matt Hendrickson Kansas City Writer Alex Smith is a good quarterback. He is not at the “elite” level, but his play is solid. He does many things well and has no major flaws. His first year in Kansas City was successful, considering the lack of help he had on offense. Currently the Chiefs have engaged in talks with his agent about a contract extension...

How do cover32′s top ten running back prospects fit in Kansas City?

Our editorial staff put together its list for the top ten running backs in this year’s NFL Draft.  Kansas City’s starting spot is surely secured with Sir Charles. He has nothing to worry about as he is still the focal point of the Chiefs offense. Behind him might be a different story. Knile Davis fractured his fibula in the playoff loss to Indianapolis and he may miss a majority...

Chiefs congratulations, 2014 schedule and Jamaal Charles breaking records

But one Chief is happy for the new general manager of the Browns. Congrats to Cleveland Browns gm Ray Farmer, no doubt that he will be the best guy for for the job over there. — Brandon Flowers (@BFlowers24) February...
