Seahawks Place Obamanu on IR The Seattle Seahawks carry 6 wide receivers on their 53-man roster, and with the injuries piling up at the position, Doug Baldwin (Ankle) and Braylon Edwards (Knee), Seattle was forced to shut Ben Obamanu down for the rest of the season, with a broken wrist, or risk going into the Vikings game with only three receivers on the active roster. Rookie wide-out, Jermaine Kearse, was added from the practice squad to fill Ben’s place on the roster. Braylon Edwards will be unable to play, for the second straight game.  This isn’t much of a surprise, consider he was too injured to sit on a chair and attend his 1 hour autograph session on Tuesday. Doug Baldwin, on the other hand, looks like he has made one of the most miraculous high-ankle sprain recoveries I can remember.  From everything I am hearing at this point, he will play against the Vikings.  When the Seahawks placed Obamanu on injured reserve earlier in the week it appeared that Baldwin would be out at least one more game. Impact Having Baldwin back will create an interesting decision for Pete Carroll on Sunday.  He can go into the game with 5 active receivers, which is what  I would do, because I question whether or not Doug’s ankle will hold up, or he can choose to dress 4. That is where it gets interesting.  I would think it is all dependent on Byron Maxwell’s health.  If Byron’s Hamstring is doing well enough for him to be able to be the teams gunner this week, I think the Seahawks will dress Sidney Rice, Golden Tate, Baldwin and Doug Martin. On the other hand, if Byron cannot play, I think that Jermaine Kearsewould be a better fit for the 4th receiver spot, because he is a better special teams player. Seattle’s starting right guard James Carpenter will be unable to play in Sunday’s game he was ruled out Saturday. I have a feeling that Maxwell will be unable to play, therefore, I expect the Seahawks will use Rice, Tate, Baldwin and Kearse if they decide to go with 4 receivers. Seattle’s starting right guard James Carpenter had been listed as questionable with an illness, but it came out on Saturday that he would be unable to play in Sunday’s game, do to a concussion. Fortunately, it looks like John Moffitt (Knee) will be able to return at right guard. That leaves Paul McQuistan free to replace Carpenter on the left side.  Personally, I think Paul plays better on the left side than he has played at right guard. Rotational defensive tackle/defensive end Jason Jones (Ankle) will also be sidelined for Sunday’s game.  This will mark the second straight game the Seahawks have played without the defensive tackle they signed to pressure the quarterback from the middle of the pocket. Sunday, Seattle might feel his absence a little more if Greg Scruggs (Oblique) is unable to play. For the Vikings Despite being listed on the injury report, the big three will play (Adrian Peterson, Christian Ponder and Percy Harvin). With John Carlson out, the Vikings are without a tight tend that has amassed a total of 3 receptions for 8 yards in 7 games, 4 of those games starts.  Fellow Notre Dame Alumni, Kyle Rudolph, has replaced John as the teams starting tight end. I expect Rudolph to have a pretty big game against the Seahawks defense, so I started him on my fantasy football team this week. Mistral Raymond appears to be on the verge of returning to the lineup, at least in some form.  He was the teams starting strong safety before being injured in week three. He probably will not start against the Seahawks, but he might get some playing time.
