The NFC West looks to be competitive this year. The division boasts two undefeated teams in Arizona and San Francisco, and two 1-1 teams in Seattle and St. Louis.

Let us not forget that the Cardinals finished the season 8-8 last season and won tough games down the stretch last year that seem to have transferred over to the 2012 season.

The Seahawks were a sleeper pick for many analysts, and with Pete Carroll in charge and a team whose been removed for the playoffs only one season, you can’t help but feel the same way, especially after controlling the whole game against a Dallas team that a week before knocked off the defending Super Bowl champs.

The Rams appear to be the one team looked off in this division, but people often forget that Jeff Fisher in now in charge and Sam Bradford has something to prove after a less then stellar sophomore season.

The Rams not only added talent to an already talented defense, they also picked up offensive play-makers to take some of the workload off Bradford. Don’t be surprised if the Rams are fighting for a wild card spot in the latter end of the season.

Then there are the 49ers, the team who arguably had the toughest two week opening schedule of any NFL team. Jim Harbaugh has already made a strong case for coach of the year by going into Lambeau Field and dominating the Packers, then inviting the high-powered, high-scoring Detroit offense into Candlestick and keeping them out of the end zone virtually the entire game.

The 49ers are without a doubt the best team in the NFL right now and could be the only team with 13 plus wins this season. It may not be the gold rush of 1949, but people are excited in San Francisco nonetheless. The shelf years are done in San Francisco and a new era of quality football has begun. There is no doubt in my mind the 49ers will walk through their division. They’ve already proved that two NFC teams from last year’s playoffs were hardly a problem.
