We’ve got a new Scene column on the Browns that will be up around noon. Until then, a few other things, including one of the more insane pieces we’ve ever seen from Terry Pluto:
The Niners gave quarterback Alex Smith seven years and now they’re finally going to make the playoffs, so the Browns should do the same with Colt McCoy, Pluto says (or something like that).
Of course Pluto wants McCoy to succeed in Cleveland as much as anybody does, and why shouldn’t he? But it’s no reason for him to completely ignore the facs that the Niners used a first overall pick on Smith and gave him a $50 million dollar contract, most of which had been paid coming into this season. Sunk costs are sunk costs, and for most of the Alex Smith era, the Niners were owned and run by Denise Debartolo York and her husband John, widely recognized as among the very worst owners in the NFL whose...

Colt McCoy has been struggling this season as the Browns starter McCoy hasn’t been able to get it done for Cleveland. This season has been extremely tough for McCoy Clot hasn’t been able to get the Browns into the end zone and his has been knocked around pretty good. It is starting to look like the old Texas Quarterback has lost his touch. When he stepped for an injured injured...
I have been critical of Colt McCoy from the beginning. I watch the NFL Red Zone channel and I know what I see. Every other quarterback in the league has a better arm than he does, save perhaps Tim Tebow.Note to self – Anytime you hear someone describe a quarterback as “a winner,” that is code for, “they stink but had good college teammates.”But Colt doesn’t stink this...
Allow me to quickly touch on activity deemed illegal. Here are the results and opening lines of the Cleveland Browns last three games:
Cleveland (+6) 17 Oakland 24
Cleveland (-3) 6 Seattle 3
Cleveland (+9.5) 10 San Francisco 20
It’s hard to dismiss these consecutive game scores as a pure matter of coincidence, and that’s why I looked into it. It turns out that the verdict...
How many passes will Colt McCoy have to throw against Houston to give the Browns a chance to win?
Browns quarterback knows it's vital for him to keep honing his under-center skills for the team's offense to develop.
Cleveland Browns QB Colt McCoy (12) looks for a receiver from his own endzone in the first half against the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park in San Francisco 0n October 30, 2011. The 49ers defeated the Browns to go 6-1. UPI/Terry Schmitt
Colt McCoy had another tough game yesterday. Sure, the offensive line is a problem, but McCoy is also making bad decisions and missing...
BEREA, Ohio If the average Browns fan can see that Colt McCoy and the offense have been more effective in the two-minute or no huddle offense, why dont the Browns play to that strength from the get-go?Bear in mind, the Browns have been outscored 44-3 in the first quarter. Some of McCoys bright spots this season have been when he was in the shotgun. He led the Browns to a game-winning...
The Cleveland Browns have started off this season a deceiving 3-4.
Their three wins have come against subpar teams including the Indianapolis Colts, Seattle Seahawks, and the Miami Dolphins. Those three teams combined are a miserable 2-20.
Granted, the Browns are under a new regime with rookie head coach Pat Shurmur at the helm. Not having an offensive coordinator has also put a...
Matt Schaub and the Houston Texans will host Colt McCoy and the Cleveland Browns on Sunday at Reliant Stadium. Join Jason Horowitz and NFL.com’s Pat Kirwan as they take a look at this matchup. Watch the game at 1 PM ET on CBS.
Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur talked with the media after their 20 - 10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Among the items discussed was the injury to Montario Hardesty and the play of Colt McCoy.
In this weekly installment of Behind Enemy Lines we get help from the Browns Report and Max Berry. Max discusses Colt McCoy, Josh Cribbs, Lawrence Vickers, the potential of Joe Haden, the Madden cover boy Peyton Hillis and something in Houston we all want a nose tackle like Phil Taylor. Questions to the Browns [...]
The 49es extended their five game winning streak and a four game lead in the NFC West with a 20-10 victory over the Browns on Sunday. The 49ers leaned on the defense again to keep the lead and hold off the Browns in the second half. The 49ers played well in the first half with a 17-3 lead heading into halftime. In the second half the 49ers offense was almost non-existent and...
