We’ve got a new Scene column on the Browns that will be up around noon. Until then, a few other things, including one of the more insane pieces we’ve ever seen from Terry Pluto:
The Niners gave quarterback Alex Smith seven years and now they’re finally going to make the playoffs, so the Browns should do the same with Colt McCoy, Pluto says (or something like that).
Of course Pluto wants McCoy to succeed in Cleveland as much as anybody does, and why shouldn’t he? But it’s no reason for him to completely ignore the facs that the Niners used a first overall pick on Smith and gave him a $50 million dollar contract, most of which had been paid coming into this season. Sunk costs are sunk costs, and for most of the Alex Smith era, the Niners were owned and run by Denise Debartolo York and her husband John, widely recognized as among the very worst owners in the NFL whose...
