Third And Wrong:
New Orleans Saints
New York Giants
My name is Connor Hutyler, and I am the editor and senior NFL writer here at 3AW. I’ve been trying to think of a solid weekly column all season long, but, thus far, to no avail. It may have taken me until week eleven, but I finally thought of one. I always knew it would be called Third And Wrong, just like the site, but I didn’t know exactly what it was going to consist of. I wanted to focus on doing a recap of the previous week’s games as well as a preview of the coming week, but I wanted to add a little more. Here it is, folks.
Week Ten Game of the Week
My first inclination is to go with the Baltimore-Cincinnati game because of the dramatic finish, but I refuse to acknowledge any AFC North matchup with an award as prestigious as the 3AW Game of the Week. Instead, I shall place this honor in the hands of the players who took the field at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ. The Cardinals beat the Texans 27-24 to improve to 5-4, just a game back of the San Francisco ...

The New Orleans Saints did it. It was a hard fought game, but they were able to win a grind it out game over the hated San Francisco 49ers. The game wasn’t perfect, but game s against the 49ers don’t end up being that. The defense played superb once again, but also this game showed a nice maturation of the Sean Payton and Drew Brees.
For one, Sean Payton actually ran the ball...
Drew Brees and the Saints caught a huge break late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the 49ers when a controversial ‘roughing the passer’ penalty was called on San Fran during this sack. Brees fumbled on the hit and the ball was recovered by the 49ers, but the play was overturned and New Orleans kicked the game-tying field goal just moments later.
The post Questionable...
A familiar foe in the San Francisco 49ers (6-3) will come into the Superdome to face the New Orleans Saints (7-2)in what figures to be the game of the weekend in the NFC. The Saints are coming off one of the more dominating performances the NFL has seen this season in their win over the Cowboys. The 49ers have been a thorn in the side of the Saints after knocking them out of the...
Drew Brees is an interesting guy. Many people know most facts about him, such as the fact that he is shorter than the prototypical NFL Quarterback. Or that he owns a Jimmy Johns. Or that he thinks the prisoners in Guantanamo Bay are treated super well. But those are the big facts. I like to know a man more personally, in a way you can’t gather from just a few articles and twitter...
Disappointed as Drew Brees was with the Saints' costly mistakes, he could not help but be impressed by the way his team found a way to pull out a last-second triumph over a playoff-contending team.
Despite three turnovers and a failed fourth-down attempt, New Orleans rallied from a 20-14 fourth-quarter deficit for a 23-20 triumph over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
Ever since Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel exploded on the scene in 2012, NFL scouts have been enamored with his playmaking ability yet wary of his 6-1, 200-pound frame. Manziel's 2013 campaign has put much of that concern to rest, as Manziel has moved up to No. 5 overall on the CBSSports.com prospect rankings for the 2014 NFL Draft.
Former Purdue quarterback Drew Brees...

The New Orleans Saints were down 3 with less than 4 minutes left trying to drive down the field. On a crucial 3rd down, Drew Brees was lit up by 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks and he fumbled the football. Lucky for Brees and the Saints, a penalty was called for a high hit at Brees neck. Upon further review it looks like it is the right call, but it’s tough for Brooks to hit...
Ahmad Brooks was called for a critical roughing the passer penalty for hitting Drew Brees in the neck on 3rd and 2 play in the final four minutes of Sunday’s game between the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers.
Back in April, Eric Reid held his breath for a moment waiting to hear whether the New Orleans Saints would draft him out of LSU.
They passed, and the standout safety wound up out West with the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers instead. It has been a great fit so far.
''Upset? Well, that's just the way it is,'' Reid said. ''I did hold my breath for a little...
Here is a slo-mo gif of Ahmad Brooks putting a hit on Drew Brees. I can watch this over and over again. Brees looks like a cartoon turtle.

You know it had to be done.
If you told me the 49ers would lose after holding Drew Brees and Co to only 23 points in the Dome. I would have laughed. Well the 49ers defense did just that and they lost again for their fourth loss on the season.
The defense and special teams got the 49ers offense in position to put 17 points on the board and when it was up to the offense to move the ball and get the go ahead they...
Drew Brees guided the New Orleans to two late Garrett Hartley field goals to give the Saints a 23-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Hartley’s 42-yarder with 2:06 left tied the game. His game-winner as time expired was from 31 yards. “I just take myself out of the element,” said Hartley after the game. “It was really funny that this happened the way that...
Football Nation proudly presents another packed episode of Monday Morning Huddle with host Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, Holcomb analyzes the top games of Sunday with the Broncos getting a must-win against the unbeaten Chiefs and the Saints staying hot versus the hapless 49ers' offense.
