The Rap Sheet:
The Patriots released safety Ross Ventrone and CB Sterling Moore, two special teams who will likely become practice squad guys (again) when they clear waivers. No surprise. Ventrone is in a transaction every week.
But this one makes me wonder about the players on the Physically Unable to Perform list — RB Kevin Faulk (knee), DE Brandon Deaderick (shoulder) and DT Ron Brace (elbow). Or maybe it has to do with rookie G Marcus Cannon (cancer), who is on the Non-Football Injury list. Could coach Bill Belichick have been clearing roster space for one of these dudes?
Earlier, he explained his thoughts on the PUP list guys, discussing the issues with doing so in a bye week with just two practices.
