Three Packers bets for Week 1
Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon. Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

The Packers kick off the season Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. With the NFL season coming back into full swing, so is sports betting. The Packers are without Davante Adams this season, but their offense could still be a powerhouse worth betting on. Here are three of my locks for the Packers’ Week 1 matchup.

*All Odds Subject to Change*

AJ Dillon Any Time TD Scorer +165

There is no doubt that AJ Dillon is going to be a huge part of the Packers’ offense this season. Dillon was the team’s leading rusher last season and will have a chance to be even better this year. Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon will still share touches, but both are expected to be heavily involved. With Adams gone, both guys will be asked to contribute more in the passing game. All that means is they both now have more opportunities to score. Getting AJ Dillon at plus odds seems too good to be true. The last time Dillon played the Vikings he had two touchdowns.

Over 46.5 Total Points -110

The last four times the Packers have played the Vikings the game’s total points have surpassed 47. The last two matchups in Minnesota have both ended in totals over 60. Although the Packers lost a key piece in Davante Adams, their offense has had the Vikings’ number the last two seasons. Additionally, Kirk Cousins and the Vikings have found ways to score points against the Packers as well. Both teams have explosive offenses and should easily hit the over.

Randall Cobb Over 38.5 Receiving Yards -114

Randall Cobb is going to be the only wideout on the field with real chemistry with Aaron Rodgers this week. Allen Lazard is listed as doubtful and Sammy Watkins will be playing his first regular season game with Rodgers. Rodgers always talks about having trust in guys when targeting them, and Cobb is going to have more trust than anyone else this week. Cobb is one of Rodgers’ favorite targets on third down. He should get plenty of opportunities to produce against a weak Minnesota secondary.
