Controlling your own destiny never made much sense to me. Destiny in itself is predetermined by definition so controlling it (while understandable), is ambiguous. What a strange way to start off. Anyway, the Jets need to win and to do that they need to beat an extremely talented 5-8 Eagles team. Nothing is scarier than a team that has (almost) nothing to play for except playing spoiler. They run loose and fast, and these guys especially need to be accounted for. Michael Vick: Rex Ryan said it best this week referring to Vick, “A 4.4 speed guy… that can throw a strawberry through a battleship”. Maybe my favorite Rex Ryan quote ever. He’s also right. Everyone knows what kind of talent Vick brings to the field. He might be a bit banged up but there’s nothing more deflating than watching perfect defense eradicated by a suddenly scrambling Michael Vick. It’s exhilarating to see that moment when he decides to tear off, when he’s playing any team other than yours. LeSean McCoy: 1,100+ yds...

New York Jets Week 15 NFL Preview: ‘Thrilla in Phila’

This Sunday, when the New York Jets travel down to Philly to face Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles, there are going to be a lot of very nervous fans—from both sides. Rob Ryan Sets the Bar Even Higher For Himself

There are defensive coordinators who would be chastened by the fact that their unit blew fourth quarter leads two weeks in a row and put their team at serious risk of missing the playoffs. Rob Ryan is not one of those defensive coordinators. In one of the more entertaining press conference performances you could hope to see, Ryan admitted that the defense needs to do a better job...

Talking With The Enemy – Jets/Eagles Preview

TOJ talked with Mike Burke from BirdsFan.com this week to preview the upcoming New York Jets/Philadelphia Eagles match-up: TOJ: Is the Eagles defense truly as bad as it is hyped up to be? BF: I don’t think it’s as bad as it has shown personnel wise.  They had a guy in Juan Castillo making a transition from coaching the offensive line to calling the plays on defense.  He...

Photochop Winners: Tom Brady Is Upset With Rex Ryan, Kanye West, Sold-Out Ugg Store

Tom Brady is a pretty unflappable guy. After four Super Bowl appearances (three rings) and countless game-winning drives, Brady is used to pressure and doesn't get rattled or lose his cool much. That's why seeing him look upset in a photo taken during a recent practice was so surprising. Earlier this week, we asked readers to submit their own altered photos explaining why...

Transcript: DC Mike Pettine, 12.15

On the challenges Michael Vick poses for defenses… It’s hard to just take that approach where you keep him in the pocket.  So there are times you understand he’s going to get out.  Again, that’s where the challenge really starts, and you have to prepare for it.  You have to practice it. So, again, coverage wise, the guys in the back end know that they have to plaster,...
