PLAYERS: Tim TebowMark Sanchez
TEAMS: New York Jets
Tony Sparano, offensive guru to the New York Jets, said in an interview with Newsday, that he can do a better job of implementing Tim Tebow in to the Jets offense. Suddenly, Skip Bayless said, "Well it's about *&#@ time!" Well, not really, but it's easy to pretend he did.Seriously, this has to be one of the all time worst things to do, try to get Tim Tebow more involved in the offense. On the other hand, if we're doing a pro / con sort of thing, how can the Jets get any worse?Regarding using Tebow more, Sparano said, "I don't think I'm still trying to figure that out," Sparano said. "I mean, I was born on a day, but not yesterday. I feel like I have a good answer on how to use him best. Can I put him in more in some of those different situations? Sure. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that I can't do that."Sigh. He continues by saying he's not a good offensive coordinator. No, not really, but he did say...[quoting the Newsday article]But sometimes the flow of the game dictates that Tebow be relegated to the sideline, he said. Especially when starter Mark Sanchez is in a groove."It's just a feeling that you have through the course of a game," Sparano said. "When you're rolling and you feel that Mark is hot, you ride the hot hand at that point."Which of these is not good? OK, it'sa trick question.Breaking news! Mark Sanchez, sometimes, has a hot hand during a game! Stop the presses! For the record, the Jets have one of the most average offenses in the NFL this year. It's not as bad as Kansas City or Oakland, but it's still not good. But thinking Tim Tebow is going to cure the ills of a marginally bad offense is just a bad idea. It's like the Christopher Walken "Cow Bell" skit, on SNL. "I have a fever, and the only prescription is, more Tebow!"
