  Bill Belichick has a reputation of being somewhat of a Machiavellian figure in the National Football League. At first blush, he seems to be a man that lives by the axiom that it is better to be feared than loved. However, former St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa's interview on ESPN Boston Radio with Adam Jones suggests that appearances can be deceiving. La Russa spoke very highly of the New England Patriots boss, laughing at how different perception is from reality when it comes to his good friend. "I get a big kick out of the perception publicly — all the media, and mostly the fans, because they don't see [and] he doesn't give you much. He's not there to draw attention to himself. But if you get in a social situation around Bill, he's got so much personality. He's interesting. He's funny. He's a great friend. I can't respect our relationship more than I do.
