Found November 30, 2008 on Dallas Cowboy Blog:
Tony Romo is not given much consideration for MVP due to the three games that he missed with his broken pinkie, but I argue that is precisely the evidence that you need to crown him. If the award is true to its name, then it is not an award to give to the person with the best statistics, although they certainly aid in the process. The Cowboys were pathetic in the 3 games that Romo missed, and they have been great in the three games since he has returned. The Cowboys now look like they are the team that everybody expected them to be at the beginning of the season. There are six players that I feel have a chance to win the award- Tony Romo, Clinton Portis, Drew Brees, Adrian Peterson, Phillip Rivers, and Kurt Warner. I rate them one to six in this article, with Romo being # 1, of course.
