I completed my second trade with Colbey from Cardboard Collections. Colbey contacted me about a few cards from my Want List he could help out with, and our second deal was underway after a few e-mails. I received two relics and a bit of Ginter help when all was said and done.First up, a sweet Darren Sproles relic, complete with a powder blue piece of jersey. Every Chargers' relic should feature powder blue. There should be some sort of federal law stating such a mandate. The card surface is in some sort of weird and totally awesome textured state, which I really dig. It also happens to be numbered 258/299 and prominently features a sick action shot of the former Chargers' tailback. Part of me thinks it has patch-like qualities. Who knows.Next up, a new addition to my small Alex Gordon PC. It's been a while since I've added a card to this particular tertiary collection, but I like Gordon a lot and am always happy to pick up a hit of his. And again, a sweet blue relic....

Why I Traded Drew Brees

Brees has played three of the NFL's worst defenses so far - Redskins, Panthers, and Chiefs - with two of those matchups at home.  Nonetheless, Brees has "just" 904 passing yards, 7 TDs vs. 5 INTs, and a 6.7 YPA.  Not awful stats, certainly, but they're a far cry from the Brees we saw in 2011.  I spent a fair amount of time this week trying to figure out which...

Matthews: No sympathy for Saints

Clay Matthews says the Saints are like a "wounded dog" coming into Green Bay and that he doesn't feel sorry for them.

Drew Brees Ties a Long-Time Record Today In Green Bay - On a 20-yd TD pass to WR Marques Colston, New Orleans Saints Drew Brees has tied Johnny Unitas’ NFL record for most consecutive games with a TD pass at 47! Unitas’ record spanned from 1956-60. 52 years later, Brees has tied it! Original Story Here!

Urgency could turn to desperation after week four

There are a number of enticing games as we enter week four of the NFL season. Still, the most intriguing game of the week involves a 1-2 team and an 0-3 team. That game, of course, is Sunday when the New Orleans Saints travel to Green Bay in what could become their last stand for saving their season. The Saints have become a caricature of all teams stuck at 1-2 or worse. The...

Saints thin at LB vs. Packers

Linebacker David Hawthorne is inactive for the New Orleans Saints for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. Hawthorne missed practice all week, and will be replaced by Will Herring. The Saints are thin at linebacker as backup Jonathan Casillas also is inactive because of a neck injury. Defensive end Turk McBride, running back Chris Ivory, cornerback Elbert Mack, defensive...

Saints QB Drew Brees Ties Johnny Unitas Record, 47 Straight Games With Touchdown Pass

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has now thrown a touchdown pass in 47 consecutive NFL games, tying him with Johnny Unitas for the longest streak in NFL history. Brees threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Marques Colston in the first quarter against the Packers to tie the game at 7 apiece. He looks to break the record at home next week against the San Diego Chargers. Source...

Packers 28, Saints 27

The New Orleans Saints finally saw an offense they recognized. The result was the same, though - another loss for a team whose tumultuous offseason has spilled over into a winless start. This time Garrett Hartley missed a field goal in a wild ending at Lambeau Field, where the Saints (0-4) blew a fourth-quarter lead and lost to the Green Bay Packers 28-27 on Sunday. ''...

Saints stumbling through tough time

A street performer covered from head to toe in sparkling paint sits atop a garbage can on Bourbon Street. Above his battered tip bucket is a cardboard sign that reads, "To NFL Roger Goodell." The "Gold Man" then sends his message for the cameras with a middle-finger salute -- and he says business has never been better. Not far from New Orleans Saints headquarters...

Saints Nation: New Poll!

I've had the same poll up on the left hand side of the blog forever, so it's time for a new one. My previous question was regarding the Saints' new free agents, and which you were most excited about. Curtis Lofton landed 70.6% of the vote, so you the fans clearly picked him as the guy you were most excited about. And sure enough, he's the only that's really lived...

Saints List Their Inactives For Week 4

As expected, injured New Orleans Saints players linebacker David Hawthorne (hamstring), linebacker Jonathan Casillas (neck) and defensive end Turk McBride (ankle) are inactive for today's game against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. The other Saints inactives are defensive tackle Tyrunn Walker, offensive tackle Bryce Harris, running back Chris Ivory and cornerback Elbert...

New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers: Week 4 NFL Pick

New Orleans Saints (0-3) at Green Bay Packers (1-2) The Saints and Packers are a combined 1-5 three weeks in the season. Raise your hand if you saw that coming. I strangely see no hands. This is a huge, must win game for both teams, and given that we should expect huge performances from both quarterbacks. You know it’s really not sitting well with both of these quarterbacks that...

Saints defense needs a new attitude

The last quarterback the NFL's lowest-ranked defense should want to face next? Aaron Rodgers. But if the New Orleans Saints are going to rise from the league basement, finding a way to stymie the NFL's reigning Most Valuable Player is a must in Sunday's game at Green Bay (4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, FOX). Among the biggest reasons for the Saints' 0-3 start is a defense...

2012 NFL Regular Season Week 4: Packers vs Saints Preview

Will Aaron Rodgers finally get it going against the Saints? As tough as it is, we need to move on and get back to legitimate football. After the Green Bay Packers “loss” to fall to 1-2 against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night, the Packers somehow must regroup and play the New Orleans Saints Sunday at Lambeau Field.  The Saints enter the game a somewhat surprising 0-3 on...
