The lost season for nose tackle Torell Troup sounds like it's about to come to a premature end. Troup missed Sunday's game in New York after the persistent lower back tightness that has plagued him all year flared up Saturday night. It then got worse on game day. "It really locked up Sunday morning," coach Chan Gailey said. "They did more tests [Monday] and it’s not good. We’re going to have decide where we go with that in the next few days." Gailey acknowledged injured reserve is a possibility for the second-year pro out of Central Florida. Troup has missed five games -- and been extremely limited in the six he's played this year. He's got just eight tackles, rarely being able to play more than about 10 snaps a game. "He hasn’t been 100 percent in a long time and we had so much promise for him early in camp and early in the season, it’s been tough on everybody," Gailey said. "Especially losing Kyle [Williams] the way we did, It...

The Buffalo Bills place Torell Troup on I.R.

The Bills have placed 23-year old DT Torell Troup on the Injured Reserve List, ending his season due to a back injury. Troup played in 6 games for the Bills this year and he had 8 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.  He has now played in 21 games in his first two years with the Bills and he had 31 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 2 tackles for a loss.  Troup hasn’t shown much in his...

Troup's 2nd year washes out

Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Torell Troup was placed on the injured reserve list today, ending his second season with the team. Troup was the second-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, and it's a pick that is looking shaky. Troup played in six of 11 games this season. He played 16 snaps a game in the six games he appeared. Over 11 games his average was only nine snaps a game...

Troup’s season in jeopardy

Bills DT Torell Troup has had lingering back problems that only worsened before Sunday’s game. “Torell’s back acted up Saturday night and then it really locked up Sunday morning,” said head coach Chan Gailey in response to why the nose tackle was inactive. ”They did more tests today and it’s not good and we’re going to have decide where we go with that in the next...

Picture at nose tackle

With Torell Troup going on injured reserve Buffalo’s options for a 3-4 nose tackle are down to two. Realistically only Marcell Dareus and Kellen Heard are capable of being an effective nose tackle in a 3-4 front for Buffalo now. Of late the Bills have played more of a 4-3 front, so the loss of Troup might not be that severe. Based on what Chan Gailey said last week regarding 4...

Chan: we need smarter play

The Bills three-game losing streak has been less about effort and more about consistency in the eyes of Chan Gailey. That’s why he believes smarter play coupled with effort will get them back to a level of play that was getting Buffalo wins earlier this season. “I believe we have guys that understand about fighting through tough times and fighting through adversity and I think...

McKelvin OK, Wilson still iffy

Bills coach Chan Gailey was optimistic about the health of cornerback Leodis McKelvin entering the game against the Titans Sunday but was cautious about strong safety George Wilson. McKelvin bruised ribs in the loss at New York Sunday. “Probably Leodis’ is less significant, so he has a better chance to practice today or tomorrow," said Gailey. "He might not get out...
