Part of my preliminary scouting report against the Broncos suggests that the Broncos pass rush is going to be a formidable matchup for the Falcons. Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil are the exact type of defensive ends that typically have given Sam Baker and Tyson Clabo fits in the past. And because of this strength of the Bronco defense, it has the potential to cancel out the greatest strength of the Falcons offense: their passing attack. While Julio Jones, Roddy White, and Tony Gonzalez certainly have the capacity to do to the Broncos secondary what they did to the Chiefs this past Sunday, they will not be able to if Ryan is lying on his back. And if the Broncos are able to get pressure with just four guys (and how can they not when Von Miller is one of the four?), it means more guys can drop into coverage to deal with the Falcons’ potent weapons. Similar to the playoff game against the Giants, the biggest obstacle offensively for Atlanta is going to be slowing down the Broncos ...

Falcons sign former Colt in the wake of losing Brent Grimes for 2012

FLOWERY BRANCH – Once the word surfaced that the Falcons had lost cornerback Brent Grimes for the season there were two reactions that could have set in within the team. First there was panic followed by a quick dash to see which veterans were still hanging out in free agency. Please click the link below to read this story.

Ryan, Falcons' offense taking flight

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. As Todd McClure discussed what appears to be the transformation of the Atlanta Falcons offense from plodding to explosive, a smile crept across the grizzled veterans face. In 2010 when the Falcons went 13-3, they led the NFL in drives of 10 plays or longer. They averaged a respectable 25.9 points per game that season, fifth-best in the league, but the offense...

Atlanta Falcons: Week 2 NFL Power Rankings (#5)

Last week: 9 (+4) Record: 1-0 Their offense was as advertised as they put up 40 on the Chiefs in Kansas City, though the Chiefs were missing their top two defenders. Speaking of missing defenders, the Falcons will be without top cornerback Brent Grimes for the entire season with a torn Achilles, which puts a damper on an otherwise good day for Falcons fans as they won on the road...

With Brent Grimes out, Falcons turn to backup CBs

With former Pro Bowl cornerback Brent Grimes out for the season, the Atlanta Falcons are counting on four career backups to fill the void. Losing Grimes to a torn Achilles tendon means the Falcons must face Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos on Monday night without their best cornerback. Christopher Owens and Dominique Franks have struggled in the past for Atlanta, but the team...

Replacing the Georgia Dome could cost $1.2 billion.

The Georgia Dome. Negotiations between the Atlanta Falcons and Georgia World Congress Center on a new facility to replace the aging Georgia Dome are continuing. The new building would be the future home for the Atlanta Falcons, and presumably that of the SEC Championship Game, Chick-fil-A Bowl, Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, and other college football and basketball-related events...

Falcons Sign CB Terrence Johnson

Yesterday, we learned that Brent Grimes was lost for the season. Have no fear, today the Falcons signed cornerback Terrence Johnson to take his place on the roster. Wait a minute...who is Terrence Johnson? Are you out of your Vulcan mind? So who is Terrance Johnson? He was originally signed by New England after being undrafted in 2010. His first game action was in Indianapolis...

What Are They Saying About the Falcons/Broncos Match-Up?

With the game right around the corner let's take a look at what some sites are saying about Monday nights game between the Falcons and the Broncos....   Key Matchup: Falcons wide receivers vs. Broncos cornerbacks The Falcons are bigger and more physical at wide receiver than Pittsburgh. Roddy White and Julio Jones have a rare blend of size and quickness. They form...

Denver Broncos vs. Atlanta Falcons: Three Bold Predictions

Now that the dust has settled from the Week 1 and every NFL team has a regular season game under the belts, the business of the season can truly begin.I understand the special part of opening weekend for many fans, but at the same point, I believe that too much emphasis is put upon what happens the first time a team put on pads for the regular season. A win suddenly gives credence...

Week 1 Recap: Atlanta Falcons at Kansas City Chiefs

Final Score: 40-24 Falcons. And yes, Tony Gonzalez did find the end zone. One of the few games I had a feel for this weekend, the Falcons went into Arrowhead and their high powered offense was almost on full display for their Week 1 showcase. The only reason it wasn’t on full display is because the running game (outside of a Matt Ryan rushing touchdown) was basically nonexistent...

Fantasy Football Rankings 2012: Week 2 Top 25 Quarterbacks

Matt Ryan looked elite on Sunday as is ranked no.5 in this week’s quarterback rankings. Week one of the fantasy football season is in the books and either your team is off to a 1-0 start or you are staring 0-2 in the face. So believe it or not, it is a critical time in the fantasy season because no matter how you slice it, in a 13 or 14 game season, an...
