Yesterday we made our readers aware of the reports surfacing about the impending contract Arizona Cardinals rookie safety Tyrann Mathieu was set to sign. According to those sources, Mathieu’s contract would include no guaranteed money, forcing the once troubled defensive back to earn every dollar he makes on a week to week basis. Several people in the media and some associated with the NFLPA disputed such a claim, and late last night Mathieu’s agent Pat Lawlor dismissed it entirely, when he told Ian Rapoport that such a claim was “ridiculous.” Pat Lawlor, Tyrann Mathieu’s agent, on report of no guaranteed $$: “Ridiculous. Not gonna happen. We had no contract discussion with them” — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 29, 2013 Lawlor confirmed that Mathieu has no problem being subjected to weekly drug tests, and they understand that the Cardinals would like a contract that protects the franchise in case of a slip up by Mathieu. Mathieu and his agent do expect to receive a signing bonus on par with the 69th overall pick.  In 2012 the 69th overall pick received a signing bonus of $691,000.
