Raiders fans went to the Coliseum or tuned in (tape-delayed of course) Friday night to get a look at new starting quarterback Matt Flynn root for their favorite in backup Terrelle Pryor and try to put names to faces on the defensive side of the ball. They walked away though talking about the dynamic Matt McGloin-to-Brice Butler connection. The undrafted quarterback from Penn State hit the seventh-round pick from San Diego State twice in one third-quarter drive once for 40 yards and then for 30 on a pretty diving touchdown catch. "I am 23 years old and I have been waiting on that moment my whole life" Butler said. The Raiders went on to win 19-17 over the Cowboys in their preseason opener which means a tiny notch above nothing especially considering that running back Darren McFadden and safety Charles Woodson barely broke a sweat and that top draft picks D.J. Hayden and Menelik Watson and two thirds of their starting defensive line didn't play. Flynn and Pryor each ...

Terrelle Pryor pretty impressive tonight

Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor was pretty impressive during tonight’s game against the Cowboys. He looked more comfortable in the pocket whiling flashing some poise and confidence throwing the football.  His throwing motion also looked better than it ever has. Pryor led the Raiders down the field on a few impressive drives.  One ended after he threw an interception in the...

Pryor to get first start for Raiders

Quarterback Terrelle Pryor will make his first start in the Oakland Raiders' preseason finale Thursday night at Seattle while the team rests Matt Flynn. Coach Dennis Allen said Sunday that Flynn has been bothered by arm soreness throughout camp. The 28-year-old has been atop the depth chart since the beginning of training camp and started Oakland's first three preseason...

Flynn’s friends razzed him about being ranked worst QB

First off new Raiders quarterback Matt Flynn doesn’t read the newspapers or watch too much TV. “As a football player whether it’s good or bad out there it’s probably best not to read it” said Flynn who makes his preseason debut with Oakland Friday against Dallas. But … it’s impossible to tune it out when former Eagles quarterback and ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski is in...

QB Matt Flynn ready for Raiders debut

Ever since arriving in Oakland in April, Matt Flynn has proven on the practice field and in the meeting rooms that he is the most capable candidate to start at quarterback for the Raiders. Unless that changes in the exhibition games that start Friday night at home against Dallas, Flynn will be under center when the regular season begins Sept. 8 in Indianapolis. Flynn will start...

Raiders see positives from all 3 QBs

Quarterbacks Matt Flynn and Terrelle Pryor basically performed as advertised in the exhibition opener for the Oakland Raiders. Flynn was the steady by unspectacular game manager who tries to stay on schedule as he moves the offense methodically down the field. Pryor was a somewhat predictable mix of dazzling and frustrating, mixing big plays with a boneheaded decision that led to...

Matt Flynn’s friends gave him a hard time about worst quarterback ranking

When the Raiders first convened for offseason workouts earlier this year, the early buzz was that Matt Flynn was looking like he was about to be beat out by another rookie named Wilson, this time instead of Russell of Wisconsin it was Tyler of Arkansas. But things have changed. Tyler Wilson has since fizzled and is embarrassingly being outplayed in training camp by undrafted free...

Isn’t it time to give Terrelle Pryor a shot at the starting QB position in Oakland?

The Oakland Raiders beat the Dallas Cowboys in their first preseason game of the 2013 season. Quarterback Terrelle Pryor had a decent game against the Cowboys. Isn’t it time for the Raiders to take a chance and start the former troubled Ohio State quarterback? Pryor went 6 for 10 for 88 yards in the game to lead all the Raiders QB’s in total yards. He showed he can play in the...

Pistol Pryor?

The Oakland Raiders came out victorious in their first preseason game 19-17 against the Dallas Cowboys after a field goal and turnover filled 4 quarters of football.  Matt Flynn started out a little shaky after a quick fumble but recovered nicely with a solid drive going 4-5 for 37 yards before a perfect 51-yard chip shot for Janikowski.  However, the most electrifying man on...

Matt Flynn says Aaron Rodgers taught him how to be thick skinned

When Matt Flynn was in Green Bay, he had the chance to experience the craziness that Aaron Rodgers went through when Brett Favre was still in town. Flynn claims he was able to learn how to deal with a circus-like atmosphere from watching Rodgers. “What Aaron went through was a circus,” Flynn said, via the Contra Costa Times. “There were all the questions from the media, people...

Oakland Raiders vs Dallas Cowboys: the good, the bad, and the ugly

With the Raiders first pre-season game in the books, TFDS looks at what good and bad came from the game: The Good -Brice Butler: We’ll start with the play of the game, a 30 yard finger-tip TD snag by rookie WR Brice Butler that gave the Raiders the go-ahead points. Butler had had a good drive even before the long TD. He had caught a deep pass on a crossing route and been...

Darren McFadden says Matt Flynn is Radiers’ Starter

Don’t think this is necessarily breaking news, more like confirming what you already should have known. Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden was on NBCSN’s Pro Football Talk and when asked if Matt Flynn would be the starter for the team this season, McFadden was pretty straightforward and honest. “Yes, pretty much,” McFadden told Erik Kuselias, via ProFootballTalk...

Fantasy Team Preview: Raiders

Overall outlook: Heading into 2013, only three teams do not have a returning quarterback, running back, or wide receiver that finished 2012 ranked inside the top 25 in yards at their position: Jaguars, Jets, and Raiders. This is depressing news for Raider nation. Carson Palmer ended last year ranked 10th among QBs in passing yards, but he's now in Arizona. Darren McFadden landed...
