An unnamed Detroit Lions player blamed players for going 4-12, but he said that Jim Schwartz "lost control of the team" in 2012. He put blame on the players, but he also made some interesting comments about Lions head coach Jim Schwartz and the team's lack of discipline. Here they are via CBS Sports' Mike Freeman: "I think players first and foremost are at fault," said the player. "I also think Coach [Jim Schwartz] lost control of the team a little. I hope he comes back. It would be stupid to fire him, but we were an undisciplined team. Most of that is on us. "But everyone needs to be accountable. The coaches, the players, the front office. Guys need to stop acting like assholes off the field. Need to stop getting stupid penalties. The truth is coaches need to punish guys more when they screw up." Source: SBNation.com

When it comes to the Lions’ woes, blame the Ford Family but blame them for the right reasons

As the Lions finished off an extremely disappointing season following a year in which the team went to the playoffs, plenty of blame is to go around and rightly so. Everyone from head coach Jim Schwartz to general manager Martin Mayhew deserves some share of the blame and obviously it’s going to be debated as to who exactly gets more of it. In addition to the blame game, a common...

During the 4th quarter of Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy threw a challenge [...]

Jordy Nelson’s Unsuccessful Challenge Flag Subterfuge

Mike McCarthy very nearly Jim Schwartz’d himself by throwing a red flag to challenge a fumble. That could have been a catastrophe had McCarthy not thrown it after the officials had already decided to review it, given the inane rule the NFL has about coaches throwing a red flag before an automatic review. Nevertheless, the Packers were penalized 15 yards for the challenge flag toss...
