PLAYERS: Justin Durant
TEAMS: Detroit Lions
As an NFL player, Justin Durant has always had to work on Sundays. Perhaps that explains why he'd consider Chick-fil-A for a possible career change. Durant, a linebacker with the Detroit Lions the last two seasons, remained unsigned during the first three days of the NFL's free agency. The quick-witted Durant hasn't lost his sense of humor, though. He tweeted a photo of a job-application form he started to fill out from a Chick-fil-A restaurant, which are known for being closed on Sundays to give employees a day of rest andor worship. The tweet read: "Rough outchea bruh." Durant, one of Detroit's 23 unrestricted free agents entering the offseason, later added, "Couldn't even get a sammich jus asked for a cup of water and an application lol." We assume Durant, 27, who made 103 tackles last season, will find a home to continue his football career in time. Probably sooner than later. But if this goes on too much longer and you hear him mut...

Detroit Lions: Greatest Show on Turf 2.0?

I spent the first half of the 2012 NFL season covering the Lions for Bleacher Report. During that time, I watched a team that just one season earlier looked like it was on the verge of great things collapse in the midst of off-field distractions and on-field shortcomings. Perhaps the greatest of those shortcomings was the uncertainty at the running back position. It took a while...

Former GM Bill Polian: Detroit Lions new Greatest Show on Turf

The Detroit Lions finished an extremely disappointing 4-12 this past season. A big drop off for the team after making a playoff appearance just the year before. With how underwhelming the team was, everyone knew the Lions might be big players in free agency because they needed to upgrade numerous positions across their roster. The Lions ultimately had a big Tuesday in free agency...

The Detroit Lions have a productive start to NFL free agency

It is not always true that the Detroit Lions make great decision is NFL free agency. Long time Lions fans remember the team handing out a big contract to QB Scott Mitchell, WR Az-Zahir Hakeem, and this team making other blunders signing free agents and often times dealing with their own free agents. In 2012 [...]

Lions get Jones & Seahawks get Avril in a swap of free agents

Who wins this one? The one thing about this time of year is that no one who covers the NFL or works for an NFL team gets much sleep.  Last night I went to bed at midnight and woke up at 4:00 AM knowing that is about the times that moves start happening on the East Coast. The morning was mostly quiet as for the realm of things that effect the Seahawks. John Schneider and Pete Carroll...
