Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick says the switch of offensive line coaches in 2010 is one of the reasons for his struggles the last two seasons. "Obviously, yeah. Just being honest and candid about the situation," Vick said Thursday to Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer. "Things changed dramatically. It is what it is." The Eagles switched from Juan Castillo as offensive line coach in 2010 to Howard Mudd the past two seasons. "We all kind of gradually worked our way into it until we got comfortable," Vick said. "I had to learn new protection schemes, verbiage. And we shuffled around a lot of players. So everybody had to start all over." Vick added: "Because Howard and Juan are two totally different personalities and two totally different schemes. And they like their own caliber of players. It was different. But we lost Juan to the defense, so I had to go with what I had to go with." Vick has taken less sacks in Mudd's system, but rushed the ball more in Castillo's. In 2010 Vick was sacked 34 times in 12 games, while in 2011 he was sacked just 23 times in 13 games. This season Vick has been sacked 27 times in 9 games. Vick's number of runs dropped from 100 rushes for 676 yards and nine touchdowns in 2010, to 76 attempts for 589 yards and one touchdown in 2011. This season he has 307 yards rushing on 57 attempts with one touchdown. Vick, preparing for the New York Giants on Sunday in what could be his last game with the Eagles, said the old system worked better for his style of play. "In hindsight now, looking back on it, absolutely, I think so," Vick said. "I know it was a different cast of players, as well. A majority of those guys are gone, shuffled around. It was a different group."
