Michael Vick traveled with the Eagles to the Gulf Coast but he raised questions about his short-term and long-term health when he told Comcast SportsNet’s Derrick Gunn he faces “a long road” back to health. Vick is listed as questionable for the Eagles’ game Sunday afternoon against the Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium after suffering a hamstring pull late in the second quarter of the Eagles’ win over the Giants on Oct. 6. Although head coach Chip Kelly said Vick’s status for Sunday will likely be a game-time decision Vick did not sound particularly encouraging in a brief interview after arriving at the team hotel Saturday afternoon. “Right now still working to get back to it -- get to 100 percent you know” Vick told Gunn. “So it's going to be a long road.” And that was it. The reference to “a long road” certainly raises the question whether Vick’s layoff will last more than one game. It was assumed he’d be ready to face the Cowboys a week from Sunday when the Eagles try to win a home game for the first time in more than a year but now who knows? Vick has not played a full 16-game season since 2006 and has missed 11 games with various injuries since becoming the Eagles’ full-time quarterback early in 2010. Since 2010 some 17 NFL quarterbacks have started more games than Vick’s 39. Second-year pro Nick Foles a third-round pick last year out of Arizona is expected to start in place of Vick on Sunday. Foles threw for 381 yards and two touchdowns against the Buccaneers last year in his only career win as a starter. He threw for 197 yards and two TDs against the Giants Sunday in relief of Vick. If Vick is sidelined for more than one week it will certainly give the 24-year-old Foles a tremendous opportunity to pad his resume as the Eagles look to the future.
