Since winning Super Bowl XLVI with the New York Giants, Victor Cruz has become the NFL’s breakout star on the gridiron and on the fashion front. The Big Blue wide receiver has added several stylish endeavors to his resume, including the role of cover boy for a range of fashion magazines. Most recently he fronts the April digital issue of DuJour. Within the DuJour piece, Cruz spoke about family, football and fashion. He also discussed his aspirations beyond the game. In addition to his already successful clothing line, Young Whales, he told the magazine “I want to be the first person who has a Super Bowl ring and an Oscar.” For the full piece, read on here. Below are a few fashion highlights. On his grandfather and father introducing him to the world of fashion: “They opened my eyes to fashion. Today I look at certain pieces and I think, My grandfather would wear that, or My dad would wear that this way. It definitely helps me when I try to visualize how I want to wear certain things.” On the fusion of fashion and football: “Now you have cameras taking photos of guys as they come off the buses into the games, capturing what they’re wearing. I think the players are paying attention to that, and it’s cool to see. It was only a matter of time before the two worlds met… I don’t know about anybody else, but I like dressing up and wearing suits,” says Cruz, who recently hired a stylist. Together, they decide on 16 looks for the entire season (he wears suits for away games and business casual for home games).” The corresponding fashion photo shoot was styled by Rachel Johnson and photographed by Kirk Edwards. Cruz sports a range of casual and formal ensembles that showcase his personal style, described by Johnson, as ”Hollywood actor-meets-sneaker enthusiast.” Check out some of the shots below and for additional photos, visit here.
