The Washington Redskins scooped up a unique talent in Robert Griffin III when they selected him with the 2nd pick of the 2012 NFL Draft. He brings a unique skill set to the quarterback position in the NFL that is seldom seen. During his upcoming rookie season in the NFL he will be examined and compared to Carolina Panthers star QB Cam Newton. Both players bring a cannon of an arm with the elusiveness of some of the top running backs in the league. There have been players in the past with similar skills to Newton and RG3 who have dominated at the college level, but could never dominate on Sundays. Newton, with his impressive rookie season last year, proved that he has what it takes to make it in the NFL.

In order for RG3 to shine, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan is going to have to tailor his offense around his new star QB. From the look of their training camp practices, this is exactly what Shanahan is trying to do. RG3 has been seen at training camp running the pistol formation, the option, and other plays out of normal NFL formations that RG3 used to run at Baylor. The more comfortable Shanahan can make RG3 feel behind center, the more productive RG3 will be this year. The Redskins with be an exciting team to watch in 2012 and that’s music to the ears of all the diehard Skins fans. For more info on how Shanahan is building around Rg3, check out NFL.com‘s video here.
