The good news is QB Matt Cassel came through and got an impressive win, the bad news is coach Leslie Frazier stated QB Christian Ponder is still the starter...whaaa??? It's becoming clear it's not Ponder's fault as too many are tied to his drafting, and they need him to succeed to keep their jobs.

Vikings.com Minnesota Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said Tuesday that he wants to see how well Christian Ponder’s injured ribs have progressed through the bye week before he decides who will start at home against Carolina on Oct. 13. “Christian is still injured but he’s our starting quarterback and we’ll see how he does coming out of the bye,” said
The Minnesota Vikings finally get their first (home)win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The final score 34-27 was in Wembley Stadium. The big story was Christian Ponder out with a broken rib and how Matt Cassel can step in to lead the team. Cassel answered that question fairly quick against a slumping Steelers team.

Fran Tarkenton tells the world in his article for the Pioneer Press that Matt Cassel gives the Vikings the best chance to win. What gave the Vikings the edge this week was solid, confident, professional quarterback play — something we haven’t had consistently for several years now. Matt Cassel gave the team a chance to […]
According to Judd Zulgad of ESPN 1500 in Minnesota, Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder could miss another 3-4 games since he broke the rib that’s right outside of his heart.
I'm guessing that with Christian Ponder having a fractured rib near his heart he will be out because of injury for three to four games.

Can't Knock the Cassel
Oh man ... There was a moment in the game with about two minutes left where I was certain we were going to hit that 0-4 mark. I thought FOR SURE we were going to let another team drive it down our throats with little time left on the clock for us to respond, and we were going to hit that 0-4 mark. We were going to be well on our way to that top draft...

According to Pro Football Talk, the Minnesota Vikings plan on waiving tackle DeMarcus Love on Tuesday now that his four game suspension is over. Since that news surfaced, several have asked me if I think the Pittsburgh Steelers will have interest in claiming the former sixth-round draft pick and I suppose it could really go either way with him.
Love, who was suspended this past April...
Brett Favre is, undoubtedly, enjoying life while basking in the glow of early retirement. It's a life complete with a laid back high school football coaching gig and a lifetime supply of Wranglers.
These days, when he's not making the rounds on award shows, Favre hunkers down among the immaculate magnolia pines and spry white tailed deer that dot his sprawling...

Plus, Harrison Smith talks about his hit on Heath Miller, Matt Cassel bucked his trend against the Steelers, two Vikings made their debuts, and other stats and notes.
The Steelers and Vikings are both 0-3, and are both looking for answers. While the Vikings offense has been middle-of-the-road with a pretty meh quarterback situation and a handful of skilled targets in the passing game, they possess one of the great athletes in all of sport: Adrian Peterson.
The last time A.P. took on the Steelers in a game back in 2009, he had 129 total yards...
