Now that their season is over, the Minnesota Vikings can’t afford to waste much time.

They have questions to address. It starts with their quarterback situation. All of Case Keenum, Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater are slated to hit free agency. But there’s also the question of finding a new offensive coordinator. Now that Pat Shurmur is head coach of the New York Giants, the Vikings are lining up interviews.

The list starts with former Seahawks offensive coordinator, Darrell Bevell.

After missing the postseason for the first time since 2011, the Seahawks would go in a different direction. Bevell, of course, had been with Seattle as OC since the 2011 season. But after a top-four finish in both yards and points (2015), Seattle’s offense has steadily declined. However, that’s hard to pin entirely on Bevell. When you have little in the way of an offensive line and mediocre-at-best receivers, what’s one to do. Seattle would still finish 15th and 11th in total yards and points, respectively, this past season.

But the Vikings don’t need to rush either. And again, there’s no underselling what Shurmur was able to do despite being on his third QB and backup running backs. Not to mention, relatively unknown wideouts until their breakout campaign(s) this season.

In other words, the Vikings have big shoes to fill. Is Bevell the answer? After all, he did serve as their offensive coordinator before—from 2006-2010.
